Hello, so I am looking for a my first laptop, because soon I will go to university, so why not now to find a laptop. I am now looking for a Lenovo Thinkpad, but I don't know which version should I pick. My budget is 800 euros (~850 USD). The keypad is preferred. Thanks in advance

Size, uses? Are you using it mostly on the go or stationary? Playing games or just work?

You might do better picking up used last gen for bang for your buck.

Thinkpads are nice but have the business premium when new

Size kinda doesn't matter, because still, I have a big packpack (lot ltt 😞 sadly) but yea. I think I will be using as stationary ant on the go, so both. Still, at home, I will going to connect a screen to it, because why not, way more comfortable to do some work and play some games in bigger screen at home then in a laptop screen. And yea, Im gonna play some games in that laptop

So probably a 15.6" laptop

A

Is Lenovo just because of aesthetic reasons. They are good laptops with good materials but are pricey for their level of performance. It is a lot of money but in laptop world it doesn't go as far.

Whereas a gaming focused laptop with decent specs might net you a discrete graphics card in that price range

i DONT want to have a gaming laptop, because they are heavy and really often a baterry doesn't last very long and they are noisy. I would say the mac is wayy more for  aesthetic reasons then a Lenovo. And I want to pay that amount of money because of reliability. For egzample, the Lenovo thinkpad E15 is MIL-SPEC. like, how crazy is that? Especially, when IBM did the thinkpads it was robust and you can trust it wont fall apart

I mean fair but that is a pretty broad stroke to paint. Though that was a valid point >10 years ago

The Lenovo Legion slims are none of those things for example from the same company. And they often have better screens than a non gamer unit

But how much graphics power do you need or what games are you hoping to play? If you don't need a dedicated GPU your options expand

Size matters, as 15-inch laptops are generally cheaper than 14-inch and 13-inch laptops.
Weight matters too: trust me, even if you've got a big backpack, 200g less is significant when you're carrying a laptop.
Also, don't expect anything more than basic gaming performance on your budget, as anything beyond the most basic gaming configuration is overpriced when it comes to laptops.
Personal opinion: Find a good laptop for work - good battery, light, good keyboard, and then see what you can do with the graphics card that comes with it.
It's very hard to have the best of both worlds when choosing a laptop, especially if you're on a budget. A fast, light laptop with great battery life, a good keyboard and a bright, colourful screen that can also play games will be expensive.

like, my games won't be that hard on cpu/gpu. My 11 year old pc runs those games just fine, and I am not expecting to run games in like 4k ultra settings. the games typicaly are: Counter strike sourse, assetto corsa, msc, rfactor 2, ets2. And yea, thanks for the tips about the weight and also the screen size
