Unkn posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory

So about a year ago I upgraded my pc with a better graphics card which helped I upgraded to a 3060 12 GB and now I'm CPU bottle necked as I have an i3 10105f and I don't know if this upgrade is good or not so I'm wondering what you guys and girls think

pretty bad considering the overspending on the board and that overpriced 5700x

5700x3d at 117£ on aliexpress so 65£ saved if you buy on aliexpess

a520m-k for 47£ as theres simply no reason to get a b series board since you can only bclk overclock on x3d and most a series boards seem to allow bclk overclocking anyways, the vrms are also next to irrelevant as the 5700x3d draws very little power so even the dinky vrms on this board should do just fine for the 5700x3d

so about 100£ saved and you get a much faster gaming cpu aswell

There are many more reasons to get a b serise board other than overclocking. If you care about I/O that board that you listed falls way short.

As for the aliexpress cpu, if you care about buyer protection or warranty, than I'd stay away from aliexpress.

Normally I would say to upgrade your CPU under the circumstances, however I believe that 10 series Intel parts are overvalued for some reason, and cost more than it might to upgrade to a better system that could potentially host a more powerful GPU in the future.

I would agree with the 5700 X3D, you might even be able to find one used on eBay, or maybe even with the motherboard combo from those upgrading to AM5.

Hey making the assumption that you are being budget conscious with the upgrade, and so even though the AM4 platform with the 5700 X3D might be addended platform, it should do more than well enough for 1080 and 1440p gaming at reasonable settings and frame rates. You might be able to get another year or two out of it even with some more modern titles by simply upgrading your GPU.
