Hi, this is going to be my first build. A bit nervous as I'm not aware of all the little tidbits experience grants. I tried my best to see if all my parts were compatible but I am still not too confident.

Here is my build:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/mpBCD3

I have already bought the case fans and the dvd drive (newegg promo codes ended today) and I will purchase the rest of the parts as they dip in price a bit or around early/mid June.

I live in a desert biome so it gets really hot, that's why I'm opting for so many fans inside my case. I plan on overclocking the cpu to 4.5 ghz (or as close as I can get, hope I'm lucky). For the cpu cooler, I want to run it in a push/pull configuration, so I have four SP fans in the pcpartpicker list.

1. Budget & Location

I live in California, United States. I'm looking to spend around $2500 on the PC alone, and $500 for peripherals and a single display. So $3000 total all in all.

2. Aim

Gaming and potentially programming. I'm a Computer Science major and I'm learning OOP with Java but I really doubt I will have to do something incredibly taxing related to programming courses in college.

I play MMOs, FPS and RTS games. It'd be nice to run everything in ultra but definitely not required i.e I can't tell the difference between 16x AA and 8x AA so I'm okay with spending $200 less to run stuff not super maxed out.

Games like Planetside 2, ArcheAge, Battlefield 4, Dota 2, Watchdogs, Arma and GTA 5 (when will this be released for the PC holy cow) are some of the games I'm looking to max out at 1440p.

Target: MMORPG, FPS, RTS games @ 1440p / 1600p

3. Monitors

A single monitor. I might add a cheap widescreen monitor to use vertically so I wouldn't have to scroll so much while programming, but I'm not going to use it for gaming.

I'm looking for the best IPS display (in terms of response time and colors) or the best TN display (with respect to color and response times). I really like how the LG 34UM95 looks but it's out of my budget at this time :(

Target: 27"-32" IPS or TN @ 1440p / 1600p (I prefer color > ultra 1337 response / refresh, but not either extreme.)

4. Peripherals
I want to use Windows 8. I have it on my laptop, and I really dig how it looks and feels.

5. Why are you upgrading?
I want to build my own PC.

Any advice / help is greatly appreciated.

Edit: I added the total I want to spend to clear up confusion.

Wow, that's awesome. This gives me room for a new desk and a really good monitor. Would the NZXT 530 fit the kraken in a push/pull or would it be too tight? I think I am going to stick with a single 780ti though.

im currently using the 530 and im finding it a bit large however if you do want some space id switch to the nzxt h440 but theres more then enough space to fit in push pull also why the single 780ti? most games handle duel gpu well and sli 780 would do better

Mostly heat. It gets very hot here and a few weeks ago when it was one of those really hot days, my gtx 590 fried itself out. Also, what type of monitor are you using, and how did you end up deciding on that particular one?

Same here, my display is a hand-me down and I'm not even sure of what brand it is.

I also wanted to ask about the motherboard you chose, was it for the price or something else?

Curious, have you seen Linus' review of the LG 34UM95? It's an IPS panel too with 21:9 ratio.
