Sorry in advance if I posted to the wrong place, I've never used this forum before! This seemed like a place to post this to!

Hey guys, been unable to figure out this problem on Google so I'm turning to here

Has anyone ever experienced this in a discord call or playing a game, or watching YouTube even.

Audio increasingly gets louder without touching volume controls. Volume stays at whatever % it's already set to on PC but it gets so loud it actually hurts your ear drums.

Audio resets it's volume once the person speaking in call stops speaking. Audio resets itself if the audio in a game stops playing and restarts.

I went through a headphones RMA already and it's still happening on the new headset!

My computer specs are as listed.

850w gold rated PSU

B550 pro 4 Asus motherboard

MSI 3070 RGB graphics card

Ryzen 7 3700x

32 gigs of ddr4 ram.

2tb wd black m.2 sata SSD

10tb wd black hdd

6 TB wd black hdd

For the life of me I have been unable to fix this issue.

I have reinstalled my drivers, I have restored from a backup of my SSD.

I have reinstalled ALL of my drivers at this point.

I'm not techy enough to figure out my problems at this stage lol

Go to System, Sound then to more sound settings. Communications tab. There you can change incoming sounds level.  Also check sound enhancements within the audio settings and turn on loudness equalization.

What exactly is your audio setup?

Pair of speakers plugged into motherboard line out port (lime green port) ?

Pair of headphones connects to PC case headphone output?

Easiest solution without thinking too hard is using Apple's $9 USB-C to headphone adapter. It's a DAC so it handles all of the audio stuff.

My setup is two things, speakers plugged into the motherboard via USB for power and a 3.5mm plug, and a USB corsair void RGB wireless headset.

I'm gonna try the thing that billbill posted on Monday once I'm back home. But if that doesn't work I'm not sure what it could be.

My specific problem is my audio likes to deep fry randomly and go maximum volume when people are talking or game audio is playing. It's really really painful on my ears. Turning the volume down to 2% doesn't even change it either.

It happens on both the speakers and the headset?
