Hello!

So i recently ran some tests on my system to check if everything is alright temp/usage wise. So i booted up msi afterburner and ran warhammer 40k spacemarines 2. My cpu temps are superb, 56-62 degrees celsius (132-143 fahrenheit) my gpu temps however are questionable, im getting around 83-85 degrees celsius (181-185 fahrenheit) i am currently running two p12 120mm fans under it and tested it without but it did not do a difference. My question is then, should i get slim fans instead, should i deshroud or am i overreacting?

my cpu is an i5 12400f

my gpu is an hp oem 3070

Cooler is an arctic esports duo 34

83-85c is warm but still within safe limits for the 3070 GPU.  My 980 Ti used to run that hot all the time.

You can try to make a custom fan curve to increase cooling a bit or increase the P12 fan's speed.

The temperatures are not dangerous however.

I have read alot of the info online is that 80 degrees is technically the limit but i dont feel quite safe having so little headroom. My question is then, should i get slim fans instead because it could just be turbulance, should i deshroud the gpu, should i change the thernal paste or am i overreacting?

Keep me updated!

You can make a custom fan curve in MSI Afterurner.

It will increase fan noise a little though.  A sliightly more aggressive fan curve can help a lot with temperatures.

Undervolting will make a pretty significant difference here, if you're so inclined.

Basic instructions:

(3080/3090 but the principle is the same)

Ryzen 7 7800x3D -  Asus RTX4090 TUF OC- Asrock X670E Taichi - 32GB DDR5-6000CL30 - SuperFlower 1000W - Fractal Torrent - Assassin IV - 42" LG C2 - Windows 11 Pro

I did tweak it a bit and increased the fan speed on the bottom fans and i got it 3 degrees celcius cooler. Im going to tinker with undervolting tomorrow but its a good start. Thanks!

3 degrees is actually a very good drop in temps.

A bit more tweaking and undervolting and you'll be in the mid 70s 🙂

Good start!

Keep us updated!

And again, the temps are still within safe limits so do not worry too much about that.  Tinker for the fun of it 🙂

Oh you have an HP branded GPU.... I am not sure that cooler is doing much for you

Ay man i had no option, bought the gpu in 2022 and got it used brand new cause someone ripped it of an oem and it was priced at like 260 dollars at the time

3070 is a 3070 , it was a very good deal.

Like said above the temps are still within the acceptable level so nothing to worry about really.

Maybe some dirty things stuck in your fans and it blocking to fans speed. You can try to clean fans but I think under 90C is acceptable for your GPU but if you try to play in high-ultra settings.

High or low settings isn't going to change the GPU's power draw (and thus heat) if the load is the same.
