With intel's stability issues lately, I'd recommend considering AMD's AM5 generation such as 7500F on a budget right up to 7700X. That being said, there is savings in reusing DDR4 RAM for 13th gen intel and I don't think 13400F runs intesive enough to run into current Intel issues.

Is fine at the right price and a decent upgrade on your 1060 3GB.

What price is the 12600K/KF? It performs a bit better and avoids the potential for the 13th-14th gen issues. You also don't have to worry about buying a cheap H610/B660 motherboard because they're the same gen.

Yes, if you get a 13400F, then you will have to buy a new one.

The 4060 would transform the capability of your PC with modern games like Cyberpunk, but the i5-7400 is really on the edge of playability in those same games, so it is hard to say for certain how satisfying you will find the upgrade.

That said, if you do the CPU first, it is unlikely that you'll find those games any different either, because then the 1060 3GB will be your bottleneck.

Hello... I think this can be done, it's not hard.

Since you Old Platform is so out of date then I would really suggest a new CPU, Motherboard, Cooler, and GPU. You will need to reuse your RAM for the new PC but these parts are a MUST Upgrade First!!!

I have picked some option for you. For the CPU I went with the Intel Core i5 12600K. Going with 12th Gen you Eliminate the problems that the 13th & 14th Gen has. The 12600KF has 10 Cores & 16 Threads.

To pair the CPU I picked the ASRock Z690 PG Riptide ATX Motherboard. This Z690 will allow you to Overclock the CPU if you wish to. It also comes with a Detachable GPU Support Bracket. You will get most of the "Z" Series Features with this Board at a low price.

Since you are getting a new CPU you will also need a new CPU Cooler. I went with the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE. This will keep the CPU Temps down really low and if you ever decide to Upgrade to a i7 12700K or i9 12900K then this Cooler can be reused.

For the GPU I found the Zotac GAMING SOLO RTX 4060 8GB. I was going to go with the RTX 3060 12GB but the 4060 is much better even if you loose the extra 4GB of VRAM. The 4060 is a Major Upgrade from your GTX 1060 3GB.

This Combo of parts will allow you to get onto the newer Platform and get going right away. The first Link below is for the Parts listed above. The 2nd Link is for the rest of the Parts you will need later on.

CPU: Intel Core i5-12600K 3.7 GHz 10-Core Processor  (€202.87 @ Proshop)
CPU Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler  (€43.89 @ Proshop)
Motherboard: ASRock Z690 PG Riptide ATX LGA1700 Motherboard  (€162.39 @ Proshop)
Video Card: Zotac GAMING SOLO GeForce RTX 4060 8 GB Video Card  (€313.36 @ Proshop)
Total: €722.51

https://at.pcpartpicker.com/list/fjCzn6

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory  (€63.07 @ Proshop)
Storage: Crucial P5 Plus 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive  (€169.48 @ Proshop)
Case: Montech XR ATX Mid Tower Case  (€72.20 @ Proshop)
Power Supply: MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply  (€109.01 @ Proshop)
Case Fan: ARCTIC P12 Slim PWM PST 42.1 CFM 120 mm Fans 3-Pack  (€22.73 @ Proshop)
Total: €436.49

I Put in new RAM because I can guess that your current RAM has probably really slow Speeds. This WILL hold the new PC back in how well and fast it does things.

I went with a 2TB M.2 Drive to give you plenty of Storage to start with. It even has a 2GB Cache DRAM Buffer to Load things Faster like Files, Games, & Loading Screens.

For the Case I went with a new one because Older Cases from back when the i5 7400 was around usually didn't have any Airflow except a Rear Exhaust Fan. This New Case has plenty of Airflow. It comes with 3 ARGB Fans. 2 on the Side to bring in Fresh Air and 1 in the Rear. I also added a extra Fan Pack that has 3 Fans. You will use these to put into the Top of the Case for more Exhaust.

The PSU I picked is an A-Tier MSI Model and is Gold Rated for 750w. This is just what you need for all the newer Parts. I wouldn't trust the Old PSU to Power anything new. I have seen older PSUs Fry newer Parts.

Have a look and let me know what you think. If you have any questions please feel free to ask, I respond much faster on my Discord: Wizardsnapper#2772 as I have it open 24/7.

Thank you for the detailed suggestions, I have a few questions:
1. You recommended the Zotac GAMING SOLO RTX 4060. How does it compare to other RTX 4060 models, like the MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ventus 2X and the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4060 Eagle OC? What makes the Zotac a better choice over these other models?

2. If I start my upgrades with just the GPU, will my current 500W PSU be sufficient, or would I need to upgrade my PSU as well? Should I consider upgrading any other components at the same time?

You are going to run into major problems running an older generation motherboard with the entry-level modern GPU's as they usually cut costs by only using 8x slots, but have an expectation that your motherboard will support PCIe gen4 (the B250 does not).

3000PLN = roughly €700

Here's a starting point that will get you to a more modern CPU+RAM+motherboard:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600 3.8 GHz 6-Core Processor  (€192.90 @ Alza)

Memory: G.Skill Flare X5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory  (€114.90 @ Alza)
Total: €417.70

Not sure what the 2nd hand market for RTX cards is like in Poland, but I'm sure you can get a RTX3070 for ~€300? (this should give you nearly DOUBLE the CUDA GPU performance of a RTX4060 and almost double the VRAM bandwidth) - similar memory speed, but 128bit bus vs 256bit bus.

I'm happy to answer your questions...

1. I picked the Zotac GAMING SOLO 4060 for 3 reasons. First because it's the cheapest model I could find and 2nd, it only requires 1x 8-Pin PCIe Cable, and 3rd it's only a 2 Slot Card meaning that it only uses 2 PCIe Slot Covers not the usual 3. Any other Models just add to the price for virtually no extra Performance unless you wanted to get the 4060Ti 16GB VRAM Model which is about $100-$150 more. So the Zotac Model I picked is perfect for you.

2. The RTX 4060 no matter which Model requires a PSU that is at least 500w but this is just a recommendation, if you look at the PCPartPicker List Below then you will see that with the CPU, Motherboard, & GPU it only uses about 350w. So your old PSU should be enough to handle everything until you have the money to replace the other parts. But be WARNED!!! I would not use the older PSU for too long after you get the New Parts as a PSU that old was not designed to handle those Newer Parts.

3. As I said before... I would get a New CPU, Motherboard, CPU Cooler, & GPU to start with. Here is the Link from my Post above. Get these Core Items First then get the rest of the Parts later on when you can afford them. Black Friday and Cyber Monday is this time next month so some really AWESOME Deals should be there for everything you need.

Thanks for suggestions. I've made a few updates to my planned upgrades, and would love to et your feedback on the changes.

GPU: Gainward GeForce RTX 3080 Phoenix 10 GB ($414)

CPU: Intel Core i5-12600K ($208) (this was the choice you suggested for rtx 4060, but I'm now wondering if it's still a good match for RTX 3080)

Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE ($46)

Motherboard: ASUS TUF GAMING B760-PLUS WIFI ($176) - I dont realy know what to look at in mother board, but wifi is a preference

PSU: MSI A850GL 850W 80 Plus Gold ATX 3.0 ($125) - since I belive I need to upgrade for RTX 3080

Final cost for now (first itteration): $969

My questions:
1. Is the combination of i5-12600K with the RTX 3080 a good fit, or do I need to reconsider CPU choice?
2. Are there any components that might be too weak?
3. Are there any part here where I could find cheaper alternatives without sacrificing too much performance?

Before I give any advice on this... Can you tell me if you know what Speed Timings your RAM is running at? If it's anything under 3200Mhz then you will need new RAM. If the CL is any higher than CL16, then you will also need new RAM.

Once I know this I will be able to give a much more decisive answer.

Where did the RTX 3080 come from? I would no invest over $400 in that GPU when you can get a AMD Radeon RX 6800 right now for only $80 more. The RTX 3080 only has 10GB of VRAM. Most newer Games like to have at least 16GB of VRAM to run smoothly.

Until you let me know what kind of RAM you have and at what Speeds then this is what I would suggest for now. It's an AMD Build. It features a CPU (Ryzen 7 8700G) that has a Built-In GPU called an APU or iGPU. It is VERY Powerful compared to other AMD Models that have a iGPU in them. In fact this is the Best one they make so far. This will eliminate the need for a new GPU for a while if you need to save up more money. For a iGPU it's almost comparable to the AMD RX 6600. Plus you are getting a CPU that has 8 Cores & 16 Threads to stat off with and I doubt that you will ever need to Upgrade the CPU unless you wanted to get a X3D CPU in the Future.

I added 32GB of DDR5 RAM @ 6000mhz CL30, this is the Universal RAM Speed for AMD Socket AM5 and Intel's 12th-15th Gen CPUs.

The Motherboard I picked is a Gigabyte Eagle B650 AX. It has WiFi Built In and has more than enough Connectivity on the Back I/O and on the Board it's self.

Then I threw in a 2TB M.2 Drive, a New Case, and a 850w PSU. I added 2 different GPUs but they are not included in the Build yest yet. I put them there to show you that they are about the same Level of Performance and roughly the same Price. Just subtract the Price of both GPUs and you will have the Real Price of this Build. The GPUs are only there so that you can think about what you want to do later on.
