Hello, I have a rather stupid complex question about messing with resolutions when recording with my 16:10 monitor.

I have a 16:10 (1680x1050) monitor, which often causes issues when trying to record stuff using OBS. Due to the fact that YouTube will simply downscale everything that isn't at least 1080 in height to 720p, I need to upscale my footage in OBS.

When a game supports my native resolution I can simply upscale this to 1728x1080 (with Lanczos scaling), but some games don't actually support a 16:10 aspect ratio, instead resulting in black bars.
When I want to record this, I record with a base (canvas) resolution of 1680x945, and then upscale this to 1920x1080.
However, this seems far from ideal, since this involves upscaling that seem unnecessary to me.
Is it possible to make a game render and output 1920x1080, then directly record this using OBS, and then downscale it to fit my actual monitor resolution?
This way there is no upscaling required, improving my recording output.

Some more information about my system:
- I use linux
- I use Wayland, though most game end up running through XWayland (I still want to use Wayland instead of switching to X11 however)
- I have an NVidia GPU (GTX 1650)
Feel free to ask more information if this is needed.

Thanks in advance.
