What would be a good parts list for a video editing/light gaming pc for a $3,500 budget?

Not necessarily. intel is slightly better, but it is pretty unstable. something like a 7950x or a 7900x would be nice for productivity. I would recommend something like a 4080 super, since it has decent vram and nvidia software is just better. if it was only gaming, then I would recommend something more performance to dollar, like a 7900xt

Same build, just GPU change. 3k with 500 extra for monitor and peripherals.

I mean, you could go intel and undervolt, but the upgrade path ain't the best, and I wouldn't recommend it.

Intel really only makes a big difference if your using hardware decoding of codecs on the iGPU like h.265 422 10 bit that no dGPU can do. You can also get a cheap arc card to decode these codecs in hardware.

 

So OP, what codecs are you working with.
