I'm completely stuck here. My newly upgraded PC shuts down and/or reboots seemingly randomly, booting either into the system again as if I pressed restart button or showing vga light and not booting with blank screen, sometimes after 20 or 40 minutes of browsing with temps under 50 C , sometimes after 2 hours of gaming.

I've updated chipsed drivers, flashed newer version of bios(latest version that is not beta)
 My build is:
- Ryzen 2200g        > r 7 5700x
- msi a320m pro-e.   > Msi b550m pro vdh
- vinga 550w psu.    > Be quiet! system power 10 550w
- teamgroup 2x8

*My old psu doesn't have a 6+2 (8pin) connector for rx 6600 so I had to replace it

Problems started after I replaced psu and graphics card to be quiet power system 10 and rx6600

At first I thought the problem was my old motherboard which I replaced and installed new windows on (msi b550m pro vdh (no wifi)) the problem stayed exactly the same.

I tried  running memtest86 for 7 passes for 5 hours with 0 errors.weirdly PC didn't shut down at all during the process and cpu was at 46 C all the time.

I tried replacing new power cable back to the old one and plugging it into the wall instead of the power strip, didn't work.

The problem may be my old case that is not 100% compatible with my mobo and graphics card, as the pcie slot is too high and the case itself is partially blocking the ports on the card

Plus the card seems too wobbly in pcie slot, but it works for limited time (20 min  to 2 hours)

Now I will try and run it without graphics card and an old cpu  and see what happens

The gpu wobbly in the slot?

That's something you should try to fix first. Screw it in properly so it sits straight and not wobbling and sagging.

What standard is your old case? Most times it should fit but if you have to get a new case then that's what you have to do.

Even if the powersupply is brand new I would have picked one with more juice than 550w of a good brand, just in case.

That's almost always a power supply issue or wall power. You can definitely try running it on a UPS or plug it in on the opposite side of the house (sometimes there is only one circuit that's borderline), but my guess is that you have a DOA PSU. BQ should be willing to RMA it, contact them

I just tried without case, same problem.

It ran normally for about 20 minutes and then shut off as if I press the power button

i still see a case... that doesn't eliminate any issues if you're still using it. 😅

yeh, but it could be ram... usually it's ram... i don't see why a 550w psu wouldn't be enough... this pc doesn't draw a lot of power at all.

true for BSODs, not true for straight shut down

It probably is enough, but OP's specific unit may have arrived defective

Then this is not a case issue. You are certain of that.

I'm almost certain that you have a PSU issue. Can you test your PSU with another computer (or with your old motherboard/CPU if you still have them ) ?

i am booted now with an old 2200g on integrated graphics with no gpu, everything else is the same.
Been running it for 1h 10m So far no problems, but this cpu is only  drawing 4-6 watts at idle and 27 at max load, so idk what to make of it.

rx 6600 was drawing 100W at heaven benchmark with cpu at 40~ ish all temps were normal and it still rebooted then

I added back rx 6600, it booted, I updated vga drivers through msi center and rebooted

It worked for 4 minutes and froze. I turned off my PC

Now it booted into this screen with a weird blue sheen on the screen, it's also frozen

It booted again but froze after a couple seconds

Do i have to do a fresh reinstall of my drivers?

Here's the new sequence of events:

-i uninstalled vga drivers with ddu in safe mode

- booted, and started installing graphics drivers this time from AMD website

- at 80% it went to blank screen and did not respond

- I turned PC off manually

- when trying to boot, it shows vga led on mobo and doesn't post

- after a couple of minutes with it being turned off I booted successfuly and installed vga drivers, but when I pressed restart it turned off and instead of restarting showed me vga led again

- I tried to boot again, msi logo, but but instead of windows it shows black screen

I clearly see that only the front i/o is wired to the motherboard.

yes? and not doing that is absolutely necessary to make sure its not a case issue.

building outside case THEN connecting anything to front i/o defeats the whole purpose.

btw i had a nzxt case, after 1 week the front i/o broke, it still booted but kept crashing... (that's how bad nzxt really is lol, but still point stands, if you want to check something is faulty you meed to eliminate that part instead of keep using it, basic troubleshooting 101)

sounds like ram honestly,  however that motherboard is also known to have many stability issues...

this doesn't seem like a software issue (except maybe bios, that's always hard to tell)

the way to troubleshoot this properly is to change out every part 1 by 1 until you found the faulty part(s).

i would recommend to start with the ram (as i already said)

  • 2 weeks later...

Update: it was a bad GPU

I took my pc to a repair guy, he tried my gpu in another pc, it showed the same symptoms.

After that I sent my gpu to the online shop I bought it from. They said that they don't have a replacement (since it was already referbushed) and offered me to buy another gpu (with price of old gpu substracted).

And so i bought used msi  RX 6600 XT (which they have from a trade-in program) for 210 usd.

I had to disable integrated graphics, otherwise pc wont even post with 5700x installed.

Now it works fine.

Thanks everyone for input.
