Hello,

Firstly, long time subscriber, first time poster 🙂

I work for one of the biggest FMCG companies in the world and we all have company mobile devices which are iPhones. All the iPhones (Inc all other devices) are centrally managed by the business (i.e. they push the new updates to our phones, control the settings etc... for security reasons). 472 of us are part of a BETA where we get the latest updates before the rest of the company, the latest update being the company pushing iOS18 to our mobile devices.

This has been a complete disaster for us, 72% of us are pretty much now unable to use our mobile devices since the update, we're all experiencing the same issue which is the battery draining like crazy and also how the phone overheats whilst on charge. Unfortunately it's not possible to revert back to the previous iOS version (thanks apple) and from doing some googling, it seems like a lot of other apple users are also experiencing the same thing.

I'll give you an example of what I'm experiencing personally, Ill charge my phone to 90%. I'll take it off charge before going to sleep as I don't trust it being left on overnight since the phone gets really hot (since the update). By the time I wake up (6hrs sleep maybe) the mobile battery is dead and that's with ZERO activity. The first time I noticed this was when I was using my mobile, I could literally see the % going down as I was using the device, with just 10mins of usage the battery went down by 20%!!

This is not great for a lot of our employees as they can't keep having their phone on charge all day just so they can use it, nor do they (and me) want to keep it on charge due to how hot it becomes (risk of fire). So now we've 472 iPhones that are useless until Apple fix the issue and release an update. It'll be interesting how hot the phone gets when trying to install the update (when ever that will be), or even if the battery can handle it without dieing mid-update. Not to mention what damage this is potentially going to do to everyone's battery (if it's constantly on charge so they can use their phone, or with how quick the battery is draining). Will Apple cover battery replacements, you bet your ass not.

This leaves me to think.... Apple have been caught in the past trying to get people to upgrade their devices by making them slower.... Could they of potentially of tried to do something similar here again but instead it's gone horribly wrong? From all the threads/posts I've read about the same issues on the Apple forums, they all seem to be older iPhone devices that are affected.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue with iOS?

PS: it's 2am here and time for me to grab some sleep before work, so I may not reply back till I'm awake 🙂
