Hey there.

Was wondering if I am choosing the right parts for my upgrade. Here are the list for my current setup:

MOBO: B450M Mortar Max
CPU: Ryzen 5 2600
GPU: 1650
RAM 16 GB HyperX Fury 8x2
PSU: 520 Seasonic bronze 80 Plus
STORAGE: 120 NVME WD GREEN and 1TB HDD Barracuda
MONITOR: LG 24GM79G 24'' 144HZ 1MS 1080P

I am planning to get rid of my 1TB HDD and replace it with 2TB NVME (haven't decided on what brand to choose, looking for something cheap here in my country, might go for lexar as it's the cheapest one I can find) Next would be changing my processor to the Ryzen 5 5600 and finally change my GPU and PSU from 650 watts fully modular of course as I get annoyed with messy cables. For my GPU selection, I am torn between 6700XT or 2080TI,( found a seller in my country that still sells 2080ti)

I am also planning to get on board with 1440p in the future, would this be sufficient with my needs? Thanks for your kind response and I am sorry for my english.

WD Blue / Black are good budget SSD's although I think they lack a DRAM cache, but for game storage I don't think it makes much difference

Also for the PSU, unless you are getting custom cables there is no need to pay the premium for fully modular, just get semi-modular as you would only be paying extra for detached cables that need to be reattached anyway (mobo and cpu power)

Console.WriteLine("Hello World!");

Oh excellent! Thank you! Will this setup be good for 1440p as well?

Definitely.  The 6700XT or 2080Ti are good 1440p cards, maybe not on Ultra but High/Med will be fine.

@Dedayog Oh I see! Do you have a recommendation for 1440p gaming with ultra settings? Planning to stick with AM4 still.

Id look at the 7900gre for ultra 1440p.  Maybe the 7800xt for most games if you enable FSR, etc.

The issue is that ultra and Max settings crank the shit out of the little things that just beat the shit out of cards, like Shadows, textures you barely notice, etc

I didn't even run my 7900xtx on ultra.  I game on high.

Those are decent idea, though depending on game, the upgrade doesn't haveto be big, or cover everything.

First thing the NVME, it's very fast and snappy to have NVME, but you can keep the HDD for storage, or depending how new/old/modern it is, it can still work,

since my HDD is quite recent tech, it can actually do decent job at running certain games, it just takes patience loading them.

Though it is still very good idea, especially to use NVME as OS drive, so that windows whenever it decides to load/update something ,the whole PC doesn't start crawling on 4, like it would on HDD for example, you may have OS on SSD, but it still boosts and makes the whole process more smooth.

Not to mention, if you don't change paths to folders, default paths to Download, Desktop, AppData is all OS drive. So anything that's saving/loading from AppData where some (singleplayer) games keep progress, it's much faster too.

Which SSD to choose, isn't exactly the most complicated thing, if it's just a drive that houses games, as long as it's M.2 and NVME spec, it can work, though there are some that can be bit better spec wise. What are the first few cheapest M.2 NVMEs you see on your market?

5600(x) is a solid choice, s

o is the GPU, though I'd exhaust all the possible choices in your country.

And getting better and more powerful PSU is also quite important, especially because 2080ti's recommendation starts at 600W, not to mention, you need good quality PSU, like quality overall, not just Gold rating, Gold rating doesn't guarantee good PSU quality.

Don't worry about running High/Med instead of Ultra,

High/Med settings can still bring very rich visual quality in games,

anything that's around 6700 XT or faster, is already going to net you about 3x the FPS you get now, perhaps even more depending on the situation:

@podkall Thank you very much for your suggestions. I appreciate that. Oh wow, I only assumed that medium would not be good thanks for letting me know. I might change the cpu to  5700X3D since I mostly use this for gaming.

gaming can take any CPU, but esports games in perticular are on average easy to run, which is where CPU strength plays second part in smoothness, the faster CPU the more consistent framerate you get, like I'm talking about miliseconds where framerate drops then recovers before you notice it on the fps counter, as long as it's not GPU's fault, which if it's half decent shouldn't be the case
