Radeon RX6900XT Random failure

Go to solution Solved by CheesecakePizzas,

Most likely found the issue just so happens that the GPU cant support its own weight even though its smaller and lighter than other cards I have had so I didn't put in a GPU stand and the memory chip or multiple have slightly bent and broke connection

Specs

GPU: was rx6900xt

CPU: R7 5800x

MOBO: msi x370 gaming SLI plus

Ram: 32gb corsair 3200mhz

800W corsair PSU

System no post, no bios, no display, at all on any monitor. I have also tried a different system with R7 3--- and an asus mobo but no dice. The card went out after about 4-5 months of use, no idea why this happened I just shut if off one night and it stopped displaying about 20 hours later when I was trying to power it on. was wondering if anyone else has had an issue like this with the 6900 and was wonder what you did to fix it.

What brand is the 6900xt?

This is why anyone with a relatively high end card should have a GPU support of some sort.

That being said you must have moved your PC or something , The reference 6900XT cooler is pretty robust and not likely to bend at the PCB , it would Most likely break the pcie socket if anything.

If it doesn't include one in the box, it shouldn't need one.

PLEASE LTT and other reviewers go after companies for this trash. If you're going to build a card that needs a support bracket, then you should need to include a support bracket.

This even screws over customers who buy prebuilts from fairly reputable brands, I've had two Skytech PCs fail with Gigabyte 3060 cards that didn't have a strong enough PCB not to crack.

This needs to be a bigger deal.

Hopefully OP you can RMA this. It isn't user error. It's manufacturer error not including the necessary parts in the box.

OK but until every manufacturer includes one then buy a support bracket.

I don't have time to reinvent the wheel I just do the smart thing to begin with.

Do you just leave your CPU exposed aswell?

Well if you leave your CPU exposed it has limits in place to avoid cooking itself.

So, sure you can do that. Not recommended, but it won't kill itself. It's also clearly stated you must bring your own cooler.

I do not see anywhere on a 6900xt box where it says "support bracket required sold separately" do you?

No but nobody told me if I don't tie my show laces then my shoes will fall off either.
