As a long time user, and people thinking that we are Android fanboys and hate on Apple only, I thought of this thread.
Once in a while all of us need to vent a little bit so WELCOME 🙂

I've been using Android since my first Smartphone, and I must say that Android tries to compete with Apple adding all this "fancy bloat" instead of what it used to be, minimalist, fast and not drawing your whole battery.

For example, I have a Sony V10, the battery is basically infinite if not using Tiktok (somehow my phone gets as hot as if I was gaming on it when using Tiktok).

There is the Auto-Rotate function but why do some apps support it? Browsers, ok. Youtube? ok. Calendar? ok.
But why the f does "Contacts" rotate?
I'm so annoyed by Android... i put my phone down basically FLAT on the table, it randomly rotates.. I would understand if it had an angle of 30deg but it was maybe 3deg tilted and it rotates... not even my ex was this fkin sensitive to the angle 😏

Android itself id say is pretty minimal. The bloat your thinking of is Google Play Services, whatever Apps your phone brand ships (Including Launcher/UI), and if you buy from a carrier then whatever they decide to ship.
Anything stock mainstream at minimum will probably have Google Play Services which is a big resource hog, but a necessity for most people on Android.

I also can't share the same experience with rotate as I have to tilt my phone about 45deg to make it rotate, possibly something Sony set when building the rom for your device.
So your experience varies by device and rom, which I think is one of Androids biggest problems. Apple really shines here by having a consistent experience across their devices.

I think EU should make a law that all bootloaders must be open, or have a special key inside the package to unlock it to make the life bit harder for people who steal phones.

Man I would love to have LineageOS on my Sony 10v that thing lasts me 2-3days without charging 😄 I don't have tiktok on it but I listen to music a lot...

If the Z fold line line had a place to store the stylus, microSD, and headphone jack, I would pay an even more unreasonable amount of money for it than what Samsung currently charges for the hot dog phone

Pretty sure it's been almost a decade since Honor has supported the open source community or allowed unlocking of bootloaders. The last one I bought was the 5X and ran Lineage on that. Midway through that run they stopped unlocking bootloaders.

There is also the Pixel Fold, but the SOC on that isn't great at all.

All I want is a Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 to be released globally, I have had so much good relationship with Xiaomi, out of all of the phones I had (LG was and is still in my heart) Xiaomi has been the closest to being one of the most stable phones I have ever had.

Samsung, Google and many other brands, all of those are just gone too far into being the new Apple and just not letting the consumer having fun with their phones, as it was and is still be and should be since the start of this project.

I hate LG leaving the space, had great experience with them but things do come to an end

When OnePlus stopped supporting the OpenSource community (heck they had stopped releasing kernel source code properly last time I bought one of there devices), so the development community pretty much moved on. I stopped buying OnePlus devices.

I switched back to Google entirely actually. Running a pixel phone and tablet, both on Lineage. I don't have any complaints. Honestly I don't buy my devices for benchmarks, and for what I use them for, they work just fine. (Replaced a OnePlus device, and the Tablet was replacing a Samsung tablet, everything I have is always running Lineage)

I have a OnePlus Pad 2 that I use for games, I'm actually very happy with it.

Is the Pixel Fold slower but more efficient than others? I mean if the battery lasts the same and it's just 30% slower with the only benefit being the open bootloader... Meh.

I would even pay 500 bucks extra for a open bootloader.

I've been on Tensor since it was released (pixel 6 to 7 pro to 8 pro), and I honestly have very little complaints. I think the modem was a bit subpar in tensor g1 looking back, however G2 and G3 have been solid for me. And tbh, it's not like my devices with Qualcomm are flawless. I have Samsung phone and tablet with terrible wifi performance.

I run pixel with stock os and it is a Fantastic experience even with a "losing benchmark" soc. The phone is performwant in every day workloads and that's all it needs to be.

My only caveat is I do not mobile game so I really can't speak to GPU performance.

So new annoying thing that can happen, so my phone is weird in terms of rotation, it makes no sense. It rotates randomly even if logically it shouldn't rotate it does. Compared it against my fathers iPhone and his iPhone actually does what I expect a phone to do...
So it happens often that I disable auto rotation because it's annoying.

The issue is now that i disabled auto rotation while showing a friend a video, because often when i put it on the table and it takes a small wiggle it rotates portrait etc...

Imagine that when disabling auto rotation while it's in landscape, it makes all apps go landscape... why does "Phone" the app that you type a number and call someone... have a landscape mode?

Who the F ever called anyone in landscape mode?
