Just built a new pc but the hard drive I plugged in is empty so when I boot it up, a message along the lines of no drive to boot operating system pops up. I know that I need to get an operating system on the drive to boot the computer but I have no idea how. I have 2 other functional pc at home with windows if that helps 🙏

You need to create a Windows installation media, ideally onto a USB drive, then boot from the USB drive to install windows on your hard drive.

Sorry I’m kind of new to this, how do I create a windows installation media and how large should he usb be? Thx

Microsoft has a tool that lets you create a USB flash drive your computer can boot off of and install Windows from. The drive should be at least 16 GB, to be safe.

https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11

You'll need to buy a Windows license from a Microsoft-authorized reseller to have a completely legitimate installation.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

Well, according to Microsoft themselves, you don't need the license to be legal. As long as you are ok with home use only, got a watermark on your desktop and you can't customize your UI unless you buy said license.

Hi, I just downloaded the file u gave in your link into a usb, it’s the file that says to be used for a new computer and set up everything. When I plug it in and boot everything works and I follow through to install windows but then when it comes to the part to install windows into one of my drives, all the drives appear incompatible with saying this drive will break soon or I need to cut the drive into some other format or smth like that (I’m using the Chinese version so I’m vaguely translating it to English pls don’t mind) then I try to change the boot drive to smth else is bios and it says that the computer is not compatible with it. I really don’t know what to do now
