Hey, I was wondering if anyone can provide a good recommendation for a Z87 or Z97 motherboard, and list there reason why, also my budget is around $200, location in Canada.

Will you be overclocking?

are you not going to answer? @airking95

I wouldn't recommend anything without knowing a bit more perspective on what you want & what you need.

Forgive me if I am out of your budget, I am not familiar with Canadian prices.

Personally, I would go for something like:

Z97 UD3H/UD5H  As they are quality motherboards, and have been for quite a while (since LGA took over at Intel). If they fit your budget and colour scheme, go for it.

Z97 WS is a great board from asus. I run teh WS series, and while I know it is above your budget, it is the most compatible board on the market hands down.

Z97 Extreme 4. I was far from happy with my Z77E4, but I would be willing to give it a try again. Their tech support needs some work though (and my case was a really specialized incident. We had a power failure during flashing the BIOS that cause the board to not POST at all. ASrock was willing to ship me the BIOS chip, and that was the only option, for like $10. I understand that there are people happy with working with those little chips, but I was not. I was more than willing to pay more for them to install the chip for me. But it was not even an Option. That pissed me off. (not to say that it took $20, the board, the chip and 5 minutes to get the local computer shop to install it.).

No worries, they are within my budget, and I would go for the Z97 UD3H/UD5H, only problem is that its not the colour scheme I was going for, I was more thinking towards a blue/white or red/white colour scheme.

As for the Z97 WS it does seem like a great board, but the aesthetics of it are making me think twice about it.

Z87 seems like the go to chipset versus Z97.

It would always be easier to choose your board first and then your colour scheme based on the board, but I understand.   Maybe look at the Asus gaming series, like the Maximus VII Hero.

The Z97 Extreme 4 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157503 is blue and would fit your theme. They als have a gamer board that is red  http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157505 .

Gigabyte has the z97 g1.sniper http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128706 and gaming 5 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128709 that would fit a red colour scheme.
