Hello world.

Cooking is a big hobby of mine & I enjoy taking pictures of the food I make.

I had a Reddit account from 2011-2023, but deleted it after /u/spez killed third party apps. Now I don't have anywhere to post food pictures to the voids of the internet.

I will be posting pictures frequently in here & anyone else is welcome to post pictures of what they cook as well.

Last night was my first time cooking halibut, it went OK. Wish I got a better sear on it.

Trust me, you don't want to see my culinary atrocities.

When I had my first home date with my late wife I cooked something like this.

I fried salmon in sllow heat with a little olive oil, the pasta were tagliatelle. I did put the salmon on a bed of the tagliatelle and on top a light veggie creme sauce.

Wify was not impressed much. hehe

got no image of that sadly, either of the dish nor of disappointed wify.

Well not as nicely put in scene but lecker =)

Missing here are spices and rice and soy sauce. and the chicken already marinating in the fridge.

All this without rice

WP_20160520_21_23_04_Rich.thumb.jpg.49232f2a482a74dbe387d6b8c7e47b4a.jpg

And on the plate with rice

WP_20160520_22_03_54_Rich.thumb.jpg.55b91d9b98b980269b7dcba958c25c03.jpg

The chicken gets marinated in a mix of dark soy sauce, curry, paprika, honey, lemon juice.

The Veggies are cleaned, sliced and diced, and sautered with some peanut oil, then filled up with around 400 ml of water, some soy sauce and then spices for your own liking... curry black pepper, paprika sweet and hot, some clear chicken broth for rounding everything up.

Do not let the diced chicken breast marinate longer than 2 hours, else it will suck up too much taste. Stirr it a few times with in the 2 hours time. Then fry in a pot with peanut oil until it is done on the outside, put it into the "veggy stew" and let it simmer on low heat until the rice, which is put on now is done.

So happy to see some contributions. Cooking is my biggest hobby & I love to see what other people do.

I've been out of town since the post, just got back last night. Simple taco dinner tonight:

Did some Spanish rice, canned black beans w/ bacon fat, & ground bison meat. Bison is my normal go to red meat unless I make steaks. Made extra for some meal prep as well

Some "real meat" last night! Did sous vide ny strip steaks with smashed potatoes & asparagus.

I've had my sous vide machine a couple of years now. Been testing cooking steak unseasoned, then seasoning before searing the last few cooks. Comes out much better texture & more beef tasting imo. I used to season it prior to vacuum sealing.

  • 3 weeks later...

Quick little photo dump & sorta explanation to how I like to cook throughout the week. I try to overlap what I make to save on time during weeknights.

IMG_6580.thumb.jpeg.c8a1d6ce537a0f3aa6d3cdb8ff7ac694.jpeg

Sunday I did NY Strip again with some roasted broccoli & smashed potatoes. Made 5 lbs of broccoli at once & extra potatoes. I try to take extra time on weekends to cook nice meals. Cookie is a big hobby for me

IMG_6596.thumb.jpeg.b831debf2ded9fce18bf669317eafe04.jpeg

Tuesday night I needed to do some meal prep so used the rest of the broccoli, carrots, ginger, garlic, & some sauces to do a spin on beef n' brocc. Used the ground meat I had in freezer, so this is turkey & bison combined.

Rest was packaged up over rice for lunches. This is one of the easy meal prep things I do (ground meat, veggie, rice) since I can make a lot with little effort.

Last night was some quickly made broccolini I picked up, cajun seasoned mahi-mahi, & reheated the rest of the smashed potatoes. Since fish cooks so quickly, got this one all together in about 20 minutes.

P.S. Anyone doing a sober  October? Day 3, wooooo.....
