So guys, today i had the client with the last remaining Intel system i've built (all the rest switched to AMD) bring it to me for BIOS update. Before flashing the BIOS i ran few tests, everything seemed to be working normally (at least for an Intel system). The client however mentioned he had a few blue screens, with random timings. Did MemTest just to be sure, 2x4 runs, all passes. Updated the BIOS of the Z790 Taichi mobo with the latest from AsRock with the 0x129 microcode udate and all hell broke lose. First the PC was just cycling to BIOS with the memory set higher than the default value of 4800MHz (was running just fine at 7600 XMP profile G.Skill F5-7600J3646G16GX2-TZ5RK). Then after i finally figured out the memory speed (6000MHz is the limit) and managed to load Windows i noticed the CPU package was running at 78°C while idle in Windows with CPU utilization at the usual 1% . Thought maybe the thermal paste was bad, so took off the AIO, cleaned the old paste, which looked completely fine, applied the new one and boom - temps again 71°-79°C across all cores. Before the update it ran at 55°C idle and 100°-105°C when OCCT was torturing it. I noticed that the VDD_CPU voltage is now set a bit lower at 1.296V compared to 1.425V before that. So any idea what's going on here? Did anyone else tried this new "fix" and does it work for you? Am i missing something?

Ok, so update... After a few attempts to find some stable setting that don't turn the system into a fanheater, the CPU decided to solve the problem on its own, by completely frying itself, basically commiting sepuko. Completely dead now and i RMA-ed it to my dealer. If i have to guess i'd say it was probably already degraded beyond the safe treshold and was on the oneway road to hell. I supposed to moral of the story is be careful when you apply the new microcode updates and read the feedback on the intel page BEFORE applying them.
