Hey! I hope this is the right forum for this..

So I'm looking into replacing the radio (yup an old radio, CD etc system, Kia Rio 2011) in my car with an Android system.

while I could just hop into Walmart and pick something up... I'm tech savvy and I own two 3d printers so I could print some parts to mount my own system.

I purchased and tried before to set up the OpenAuto system on a Raspberry Pie Zero 2 w and Raspberry pi 3B, but it was extremely slow and couldn't connect to my phone,it required an HDMI to micro HDMI to the pi, and two micro USB cords (micro to micro and micro to USB A) to use the touch capabilities of the screen and to power it up so there were a bunch of cords hanging around and it was a mess..

I would prefer to buy a premade system but I would want to be able to modify it, maybe install Retroarch and other apps, but then again if anyone has made something similar before, and if the cost ends up being cheaper than buying a premade system then I would prefer that.

any tips? and suggestions?

TIA!
