Budget (including currency): 400 to 500 max cad

Country: canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: mostly gamepass steam, I do some minor retro emulation (snes,gba,ps2), and I do a good amount of multimedia like movies and such for my kids

Other details:

At kind of a loss with where or if I should upgrade my current setup is:

Asus prime A320m-k mobo

Ryzen 5 2600

Corsair 16gb ddr4 3200mhz (I believe I'm only currently able to set xmp to 2933 though)

Corsair 240mm aio(I know over kill but got for a smoking deal of 30 cad cib)

Msi 580 8gb

Fractal meshify c case

Mish mash of fans, and ssd's/hdds

Corsair rm750 psu

Current upgrades I'm considering are:

Xfx ultra thic iii 5700xt 8gb for 200 cad after tax and shipping

Ryzen 5 5600g for 125 cad

And finally the 2 mobos I'm looking at are

Asrock b550 phantom 4 for 180 cad

Or I'm in an auction for

Asus crosshair viii hero x570 (this is my preferred option as I'm hoping to win the auction for between 100 and 150 cad)

Is there anything I'm overlooking or making a critical mistake in purchasing? Or recommendations for other options?  All the reviews and such I can find talk very good about most of options minus the xfx card which I get but for the price I can't find many better options that should out class my aging 580. I do plan on getting an m.2 drive in the near future but would prefer to focus more on performance currently.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

No need for a different board if you're going for a Ryzen 3600, 5500, 5600G or 5600. Just flash the latest Bios for your board.

Add a Radeon 6600XT or 6650XT to it any you'll enjoy 1080p gaming. 🙂

See that's what I've been debating with myself cause my board is already on the newest bios so it would support the 5600g i just wasn't sure if I'd be giving up any performance or extra features

It's really nice to hear an outside opinion thanks a bunch

right before upgrade, otherwise you will get locked out of your current one potentially

if the GPU isn't crazy poweruful the A320 limitation isn't that terrible honestly
