Display Cable Splitters

Go to solution Solved by Kilrah,

You'll probably want to combine a KVM for the PCs (where USB switching is useful) and a simple HDMI switch for the output of that and the rest... usually they only have one type of connection for both in and out (either HDMI or DP) though, so you'll probably need to put everything over HDMI if you want that. Or use different sets for both and switch monitor inputs.

You'll probably lose things like high refresh rate unless you shell out the $$$$ too.

Hi all,

First of all, I'm not quite sure where to post this, so sorry in advance if this is the wrong place.

Anyway, I am upgrading my desk area and getting a cool plug socket extension that sits up vertically like this one: Tower Extension Lead 2M, 12 Way Extension Tower with 6 USB Slots (2 Type C & 4 USB A), [13A 3250W]Surge Protection Extension Lead with 4 Independent Switches, Multi Plug Extension for Home, Office: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

I think it looks neat and fits well with my setup. However, I'm not sure if I am typing in the wrong thing or if there is a specific name for this item, but I am looking for some sort of splitter/hub that can take multiple HDMI, DisplayPort, and potentially USB-C (and USB family) inputs, with one output that I can plug into my monitor and then switch between each display output. (Do these even exist?)

Anyway, I would love your recommendations. Also, I'm not a very practical person, so it'd be great if it was heavy or maybe had a sticky bottom so it doesn't move on my desk.

Pretty sure a KVM is what you're looking for since you mentioned USB also. What exactly are you trying to do? 2 monitors and peripherals shared between 2 computers with a "switch" you can push to change which computer is shown?

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

I have a few computers and some consoles, would be nice to have them always hooked up and coinvent just to hit a switch to use any one of them
