GPU bent

Hey, I just received this gpu and noticed that it's bent. Should I be worried?

nope its totally fine.  tho it looks like it is used before. Did you buy it as "new" or second hand ?

Not ideal, but since it’s only minor and doesn’t affect the electronics it should work. As @cekcons stated, unless you bought it used, you either need to return it or have been scammed.

It's just finstacks, highly doubt only that much will affect cooling.

 

The main questions is:

Is it the only damage

 

If that is a secondhand, test that thing properly

Thats a used one, but I bought it marked "As new"

Well it looks like its only the heatsink, what it does show is that the card has not been treated with optimum care at all times, take from that what you will.

 

Ive had a few second hand cards where the heat sink fins have been bent for whatever reason, card has always been fine, id have rather it didnt have the damage but hey second hand I guess, the fins are easily moved.

The worst thing is that I still dont have a ssd, gpu came first, so can't install windows and test it

Well its not 'as new', theres pretty caked on dust and clear damage.....

maybe share some overall pics of the card, but even then, no one knows until its tested, check the PCI contacts are all clean and good.

 

But dont worry just because of these imperfections, if you got a good deal on the card and it works fine and you are okay with a few dings then whatever.

Id for sure return this as its literallt rusting. Like new as if

update: i turned the pc on without the ssd, went to bios. screen shows up, gpu fans wont spin. Is it normal?:Dd

Just return that rusted crap.

 

 It's not worth it , as rust only happens in overly moist environments, certainly not a home or climate controlled storage.

 

I have 10 year old components and a 25 year old stereo in better shape than that.

The initial impression based on the photos in the OP is that it's only the heatsink that's slightly bent. However, with that rust on the I/O plate, I would return it.

 

What photos were provided of the card when you purchased it?

Old mining card? IIRC the 5600xt was quite popular with miners.

Interesting thing. ( I already requested the refund, now just gotta wait for the answer )
There's a code on those cards. The code in his photos isnt the same as it is on the sent gpu  included that in the refund request

If that thing is caked, I dont know. thats as like new as a used card gets in terms of dust.

the weird corrosion on the bracket is weird though, does not effect anything. just odd that its there.

That's not really how corrosion works.

That's how rust works.  Corrosion needs a caustic substance but either way the card was exposed to something, and the anodized surface failed.

I should have used the word oxidization correct. 
as in reaction with something oxidizes. One of those being oxygen, which 20% of the air is.
Yes something ate the anodized surface, or it was never done right. thats the corrasion.

That kind of thing is actually a good use for 3D printing.  Print a fin comb for your radiator fin pitch and run it through the dented fins to straighten them out.  Fin combs you can buy of course exist, for like air conditioners and cars, just not sure I had seen any for computer heatsinks.

Yeah, that's the serial number.

The fact that the serial numbers are different indicates the seller is doing some shady stuff, unless the photo is specifically defined as "reference only" or something along those lines, and they have multiple cards of the same model they're selling. Otherwise, it's shady, and they're lying to you.

 

Even if there were no issues, that serial number difference alone is shady, and I would at least reach out and ask them why the serial numbers don't match between what you have, and the photos provided within the listing.
