I just finished building my new computer. It's a Ryzen 5700X3D and a 6700XT. The problem I have is that depending on the game, the PC shuts down, and only the RAM lights and the RGB on the motherboard stay on. This has been happening since the first or second day. Initially, I thought it was the PSU cables and adjusted them, then the GPU drivers and changed them. I updated the BIOS, but the issue persists. For example, I can play Red Dead 2 on high graphics at 1440p with the GPU usage at 99% and the CPU at 40%, and the PC does not shut down. However, when I switch to Need for Speed Heat, the PC shuts down before I can even get to the game's menu. This also happens with Mafia Definitive Edition, War Thunder, and even older games like Saints Row 4, which shuts down in the menu, and even older games like Need for Speed Pro Street. The PC just shuts down completely. I have run stress tests like FurMark, and the PC does not shut down.

My PC:

  • Ryzen 5700X3D
  • 6700XT GIGABYTE GAMING OC
  • 32GB RAM DDR4 3600MT CORSAIR VENGEANCE
  • 1TB M2 SSD GIGABYTE
  • 600W PSU CORSAIR WHITE
  • CASE CORSAIR 4000D
  • WINDOWS 11

This smells of a bad PSU to me. While the wattage is likely fine, it may not be able to handle momentary spikes in draw that happen under certain conditions.

Really? I thought this was a common issue, if you check the NFS Heat help forum theres quite a few posts about this (they are from 2020 though). OP I would consider re-downloading the game and see if that helps. Are your graphic drivers updated?

My First PC
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
Cooler: Asus TUF Gaming LC240
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B550-f gaming
RAM: 4x8 GB Corsair Vengeance RS (3200 MHz, CL16)
Storage: 1tb Samsung 980 Pro
Graphics Card: Asus Dual RTX 2060 OC
Case: Deepcool Matrexx 50
Power Supply: Corsair RM650x
Headset: Razer Blackshark V2
Keyboard: Corsair K70 Pro Mini (Speed Silver switches)
Mouse: Razer Viper Mini
Only changes I have made is I sold the 2060 for $235 AUD and bought a Powercolor Red Devil 6700 XT for $400 second hand (it was barely used, think I scored a deal on Ebay with that).

I love Photography (Using a Canon 60D)

Love F1, my favourite team is Ferrari and my favourite driver is Leclerc

Yes, this afternoon I used DDU and reinstalled the GPU drivers and the problem persists. I hear a slight electrical noise in the power supply. Could it be damaged?

It would be where I would start personally. Any white PSU is likely not of any quality that should be used IMO. I would look at getting a decent bronze or gold unit. If you can post a budget and where you can purchase from, we can help select an appropriate replacement.

My budget is around 100 dollars. I don't care much if it's modular or not, and I'll possibly buy it on Amazon.

If you could bring the PC to a PC repair shop, I'd suggest you to do that.

I had a similar problem that got worse overtime, started from restarts/shut downs while gaming to randomly on idle.

Turned out it was the motherboard, I had to swap out parts to test which one was the culprit.

Occassionaly visits the forum when I have nothing to do at work.

Everything points to my power supply nearing the end of its lifespan. In the BIOS of my motherboard (Aorus Master X570S), I disabled the power loading feature. For now, this has been a temporary solution, but I know I need to replace the power supply for sure. Thank you for the comments.
