They've been very explicit that episodes need to be in "S##E##" format for a very long time. It's possible the parser has changed over time and non-standard names that would have passed previously no longer are recognized.

For some reason Plex only sees 4 out of the 10 seasons of Stargate SG1. It was seeing everyting previously. I noticed some of the episodes were out of order, I checked the NAS (where the video's are stored) and some of the episode numbers got messed up, not sure how. I fixed them manually on the NAS (it was only issues with Season 1) now only 4 season are showing. I have deleted the TV show library a few times and had it rescan. I have updated the server software and I have also rebooted the server. Im out of ideas. I should mention that Stargate seems to be the only thing effected.

For some info, I run Plex on a old gaming rig because I need to be able to do transcoding. Most of the content is DVD quality or less, with a little 1080p/720p content that has been recorded from Over the Air TV. The data is stored on a NAS, because the orginal server was a laptop that later died.

Plex is picky with naming conventions, can you verify all the episodes are named the same and in the Plex format?

It's sometimes finicky with naming schemes, i would suggest to add metadata to these episodes with same name and scan locally with that tv show only.

Not sure if plex does this.

I've done that to make episodes offline available no matter what.

And watch them on kodi.

I'm jank tinkerer if it works then it works.

Regardless of compatibility 🐧🖖

I just changed the Scanner and Agent and it found more. Maybe thats how Ive been getting around things, I dont know. Too many episodes to rename tonight. Might have to pick this up during the weekend.

One wonders what possessed you to not stick to the Plex naming conventions from the start.

Because Ive had Stargate SG1 since like high school (graduated in 2006), way before I was using Plex. I dont even think Plex was in existence. When I put the files on my Plex server back in 2019, it fucking worked so I never looked back.

I renamed all of Season one and now its working again. Lucky for me I only have Stargate SG1 and Jericho as series I had ripped. The rest of the TV shows are recordings from OTA TV.

May I ask how big your Plex library is?

80 movies

36 TV series mostly recorded as stated above.

Thats not all the content I have. I still have more to rip, but the issue is my gaming machine puts off too much heat to turn on, because summer. So I have to wait till it cools down to rip more, OR buy a DVD drive that is powered externally because my Mac wont power the external drive that I have.

I used an internal optical in an external enclosure (with power), external drives are too slow.

Edit: For a small number of discs (50-100) , external drives are perfectly fine, but beyond that

you really oughta get an internal drive.

I ripped Avatar extended cut in 6 hours on an external BR drive, took at most 30 mins on

an internal (used externally 🙂 ).

You mean your gaming rig can't use something like this https://www.amazon.com/Vantec-NST-536S3-BK-NexStar-External-Enclosure/dp/B01MRUN0HQ?th=1 ?  (drive sold seperatly)

You probably have a decade old or even older drive then, from the age where USB 2 wasn't able to provide more than half an amp of power.

You should look into more modern external drives, for example I have a Verbatim 4K Blu-Ray drive that just connects with a USB-C cable. It powers just fine from both my Windows gaming desktop and my Macbook with a single cable. No issues ever, just plug and play and it's super slim too

Gaming PC: Ryzen 5 5600x, 32GB, RTX 3070 Ti

Macbook for everything else

The problem is those cost a thing called money. Im currently trying to take care of $32K in student loan debt.

No because connects to my gaming machine it works fine. My Macbook is connected to my Monitor via USB C, the monitor supplies 60 watts which is what the Macbook needs. So there's no extra power im assuming as the monitor also has a USB hub built in. So when the temputure goes from hot as Satan's ball sack to something reasonable I can turn my gaming machine back on and use it to rip disks again.
