If I did everything right you should be able to read my pc specs from my account's bio. The GTX 1650 I'm currently using got carried over from my old PC because I built in March and it was a terrible time to buy a new GPU. I require content creation performance as well as light gaming, and the 1650 just doesn't cut it anymore. In hindsight I should have gone with a i7-13700K but my i5 is doing well so far. I play mainly Minecraft with somewhat demanding BSL shaders at 1440p. AMD doesn't seem to be an option, but correct me if I'm wrong. I'm leaning towards Intel and trying to decide if I should wait for Battlemage.

Well you can get a better gpu but keep in mind that java minecraft loaded down with mods doesn't and is never expected to run good on most hardware. Mods aren't optimized for every bit of hardware that exists and have no financial incentive to do so. So have no expectations going into it

AMD handles MC shaders just fine.  Though I do think Nvidia handles them better, as my 1080Ti runs them as smooth as my 6900XT.

So yes, get the 4080 Super and enjoy.

Did a quick search and I could not find evidence or consensus from a single source that:

  • BSL shaders perform much better on Nvidia GPUs
  • BSL shaders are not usable with AMD GPUs

However I did come across posts mentioning that Minecraft Java is easily CPU bound

The game seems to have a large modding community although they do not appear to exhibit much technical knowhow in terms of hardware selection. Suggests they mostly throw money at the problem until it goes away, or simply do not care

Reason for leaning towards Intel GPU?

I do not play Minecraft. Not aware if it has been established that Intel GPUs perform exceptionally well in this game

Then again the GPU vendor might not actually matter that much. I have no problem if you opt to pay more than you have to for the same performance just to satisfy personal preference or unexplainable preconception
