I am in between the ASUS Tuf VG27AQM1A and the ASUS ROG strix XG27AQMR right now. I noticed the Tuf says it is overclocked to 260hz and idk exactly if that's a bad thing or okay to be overclocked as a monitor. I'm mostly wondering if the $120 difference is worth me getting the strix with 300hz display and nothing said about being overclocked. Might be a dumb question but any help is appreciated, thanks.

Their use of "overclock" is more of a marketing term IMO. It's safe to use it and won't void warranty but it's also not fully guaranteed to work. My current monitor is "OCed from 144Hz to 160Hz" and it's been fine for 2.5 years, although only minor sacrifice is reducing 10-bit colour to 8-bit. I had old side monitors with "155Hz OC" but sometimes their display would fail to show up when booting up PC, so I had to reduce down to 144Hz.

Overclock basicall means they offer more than what the panel manufacturer offers natively. Afaik there are no native 260Hz panels. They're 240Hz panels that have been overclocked to 260Hz. Still, if the brand markets 260Hz, it will most likely work. But even if it doesn't, the difference between 240, 260, and even 300 is negligible at best.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
