Cannot reactivate Windows after SSD swap

Go to solution Solved by BigKhunaBurger,

Ended up just reinstalling Windows 10 and upgrading to Windows 11 from there. Probably not the fastest way to do it, but I guess it worked.

I recently upgraded the SSD on my Thinkpad X390 Yoga. I was running Windows 10 on the old SSD, and decided to install a fresh copy of Windows 11 on the new drive. Upon reimaging my laptop, Windows has not been able to reactivate my license, even though the one I used for the previous install remains attatched to my Microsoft ID. How can I resolve this?

Did you install the same edition of Windows? Otherwise it wont work.

AFAIK windows 10 licenses should still work on windows 11.

And even if the license isnt tied to your microsoft id, if that laptop came with windows it should have the OEM license somewhere in the motherboard, so it should still activate itself regardless :]

Did you install using the official Microsoft installation tool? This one?:
