Which is the “best” sounding audio format for USB?

NGamer

Looking to download my CDs to a USB for use in my car.

My car USB works with:

FLAC
MP3
WMA
ACC
OGG
3GPP

Which of these formats is going to give me the “best” audio quality?

And any recommendations for a quality software program to transfer my CDs to USB?

Thanks!

FLAC is best, but high bitrate (256k or 384k) MP3s would be fine too. Storage space is cheap, and I doubt you'd be able to tell the difference (especially in a car).

I just use Windows Media Player to rip CDs to MP3. It "just works" and automatically pulls all the track data off the web. 🤷‍♂️

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

The speakers in your car are gonna have a more drastic effect than the audio format as long as you have a decent bitrate. I use Spotify (premium) in my car (Mk7 Jetta S) because it supports Android Auto, and afaik it's a USB 2.0 interface according to the documentation I've found.  The sound is pretty darn good; I'm not an "audiophile", but I prefer good sounding music, and I'm thoroughly pleased with the sound. Even good up to about 75% volume (which is borderline obnoxiously loud) before I hear any meaningful distortion.

So...

FLAC if I want to download my CDs...

Or/and Android Auto and Spotify (or others) if I just want to stream...

Is Spotify the "best" streaming service for your car...?

I have Tidal presently - but don't steam it in my car.
