as i mentioned before detuning the cpu

you wont notice the diff when browsing and stuff, games maybe on the more cpu intensive ones, and when you are away just run prime95 smallest ffts

crashes when doing stuff or errors/crash on prime95 even after detuning the cpu thatd lead me to belive its the rams being unstable cause afaik mobo issues shouldnt be able to cause rams or cpu to become unstable, can be further confirmed with prime95 largeffts cause if its unstable rams itll error out pretty quickly

if no errors on any of those then id put a final test with folding @ home cause it is surprisingly good at detecting unstable hardware, usually bsods if the hardwares unstable afaik atleast thats ive seen running f@h on overclocked setups

Ive run F@H for over 200 WUs and its was fine, ill check again but should be fine. Ive run Linpack xtreme for a while cause it is better for detecting CPU instability in my experience and its been fine. I will check prime95 large ffts but it would probably run fine. I think the CPU is stable TBH.

I think it is related to something else, board maybe? I really doubt hardware that I have been running for a year could just die though, but settings I have been running for a week or 2 could have messed it up. Right? Just my thinking correct me if I am wrong.

yea im pretty sure its the board at this point

f@h is alot more sensitive than prime95 and it detects instability pretty damn well both ram and cpu, if that isnt just crashing outright and actually running just fine then thatd leave only the board

though there is one last thing that i just remembered which is core cycler, f@h prime95 and other stresstests run the cpu at 100% but core cycler simulates lower core loads or scenarios where the cpu can do its single core boost, since you seem to be experiencing your crashes on lighter loads maybe its just the boost algorithm screwing up which core cycler does test

Yesterday I watched a video about overclocking ( link ) where there was a suggestion to disable IA CEP support and GT CEP support. Was not aware that this setting lowers CPU peak temperatures about 30C 😮

Now running ~100W lower - 30C cooler. Quite a stunner.

How do I test the core cycler, I think I remember seeing something like that in OCCT. But also what do I do to fix that.

What exactly does that do? I would like to know before I mess with my settings. If it really does work though thank you.

I think it's explained in the video. I wasn't really listening the reasons, just tested it quickly and can't really believe 100W lower load. Before I had 210-245W now exactly 100W lower.

Video start explaining form 11:19 :

Current Excursion Protection.

Edit: ok, something strange - the GPU-Z multi-core benchmark score is 2 times lower than it should be.

Yeah, something's fishy. The scores are back to normal after disabling and the CEP and wattage under load is back to 200-240W+

That makes sense. CEP is effectively the setting that enables clock stretching, meaning that if you undervolt, rather than instability, you get a massive loss in performance. Since most Z-series boards actually undervolt CPUs out of the box, it drops performance an insane amount by having that setting enabled because its effectively running at ~3.5GHz.

There is a download link for it I can find if you really want, though if you're on Intel I wouldn't bother with it. Just do multi core stress tests since as long as you're not thermal throttling, they're way more stressful than Core Cycler would be.

Core Cycler is more designed around AMD where the boost algorithm is much more complicated with how each core boosts, rather than Intel where every core more or less runs at the same frequency all the time.

Ok then in your opinion what can I do to troubleshoot, and what might be the issue. Also does the event viewer error mean anything?

Computer crashed while I was at school, still not stable. 5800c36. Going to try prime95 on small FFTs and large FFTs and see what happen with completely stock settings (restore defaults in BIOS, no XTU active)

Update: large FFTs were good for 3 hours, small FFTs are stable too

First thing I'd do is completely disable the overclock. If you crashed once while you were at complete stock (especially since it didn't seem like you were at stock for that long), it could be the same thing that's causing those crashes is causing them now. You need to figure out the root cause of this, then you can start overclocking. Stick to stock settings for about a week, seeing if you can notice any pattern in when you're crashing.

From what you're describing, the three most likely things are either a bad BIOS revision, a bad piece of software installed on your system, or similarly having your memory overclocked while it was unstable corrupted your Windows installs somewhat. These aren't the only things that could cause this, but they are the most likely. The solution for the bad BIOS revision would be to just check a few different ones, I know MSI had a few terrible BIOSes when 14th gen came out so it's possible you're on one of them (the revisions about half way through 13th gen are generally the best for stability in my experience if you want to start looking somewhere). A bad piece of software would involve you thinking if there was anything new you installed in the past few weeks that corresponded to when this started happening. The corrupted Windows install has two was to diagnose it: complete reinstall (guaranteed to fix it), or run these two commands as administrator:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
sfc /scannow

The commands don't always work, but they're a lot easier to run than it is to reinstall Windows, so they're worth a shot.

Ok, right now its just basic tasks but I will tell you if anything changes with that

Ok, ill change that tomorrow, what date should the BIOS be from? Also will my OC profiles stay or will those be wiped as well.

Sfc came back clean and DISM said it restored something, what kind of software would have these issues?

Also does ACPI thermal zone \_TZ.TZ00 has been enumerated error mean anything? I see people on reddit and similar sites having similar issues with the same error code.

Complete log of all the crashes (as far as I can tell):

what date should the BIOS be from?

I would do either 7D25vAA or 7D25vAB, one of those is likely the best, though feel free to try a couple others if you'd like.

Also will my OC profiles stay or will those be wiped as well.

Those will be wiped. You can save them onto a flash drive in order to save them, but they'll only work if you update to the BIOS you're currently on again.

Sfc came back clean and DISM said it restored something, what kind of software would have these issues?

OK, so there was no issues. DISM downloads the file that SFC compares Windows files to.

Also does ACPI thermal zone \_TZ.TZ00 has been enumerated error mean anything?

Probably, though I'm not one of the people who knows what it means. The Windows error codes in my experience are more random than anything, with there only really being a couple that I know in order to diagnose some common issues when benchmarking (I.E. Memory_Management is bad timings, Clock_Watchdog is CPU clock speed, etc.), beyond that I'm rather useless.

Who can I talk to, I mean im even more useless then you, ive only ever had one bluescreen issue and that fix was just disabling some drivers other then general OC shenanigans.

I do know there are other people on here who actually know what they're supposed to mean, though I forget who exactly. I saw you made another post asking about it earlier, I'd let that post run and hope someone answers it.

Yeah, nobody yet though

Also changed BIOS lets see what happens

Just a question, does voltage settings change as you go from one BIOS to another because this one my CPU voltage is about 50-100 milivolts higher

Also new BIOS let me hit 6000 CL36 stable (I think) and booted 6000 Cl32

It's not supposed to, but it does happen. What's more likely is that the other BIOS is running the CPU with too little voltage,

That sounds about right, most of the newer BIOSes stopped optimizing for Samsung based memory and the older revisions tend to be better.

I would run stock for a few more days to make sure it's stable before trying to overclock anything though.

Yeah crashed sometime while I was sleeping running 6000, its at 4800 now lets see

The CPU/iGPU OC makes it much more suceptable to the error, but if its stock still crashes just much more spaced out

@RONOTHAN##  Honestly im fed up with this thing and I am just going to try RMA'ing the stuff, sound good?

If it is crashing at stocks, then yeah I would do that. If it doesn't crash at stock though on the current BIOS revision, then you might have a hard time getting them to give you a replacement.

It did crash so off to MSI or EVGA

What should I replace first?

@RONOTHAN##  Never mind a god damn windows update fixed everything

OK, I'd still make sure that you run it at stock for a few days to make sure everything is working, but then starting back up on the overclocking should be fine.

@RONOTHAN##  I lied, everything is stable now, but youtube, just youtube crashes it (with the OC) how do I avoid this?
