Hi LTT people,

I've been experiencing a lot of 0.1%fps drops in all games e.g Apex Legends @ 1080p/1440p average FPS 250, 1% lows 140 but 0.1% FPS around 55, Cyberpunk 2077 1% lows at 55 but 0.1%fps at 25 etc.

On hardware side I have:

- resat and repasted all of the components, fans etc.

- cleaned and dusted the whole case

- disconnected all of the peripherals and checked gaming with different keyboard and mouse

- plugged PC to different outlets, always directly into the wall

- reset CMOS

- unplugged all other SSDs/HDDs

On software side I have:

- reinstalled windows

- reset BIOS, disabled XMP, overclocked and underclocked/undervolted CPU and memory

- ran OCCT, Memtest86 and cinebench with no errors

- updated all of the drivers for GPU, chipset, monitor and audio interfaces

- disabled fTPM, SVM, ReBar

- checked voltages and temperatures, all fine

- updated bios

I have no idea what's going on at this point. I do also get stutters when inputting password in log in screen, sometimes in desktop or chrome.

I have noticed that BIOS started running laggy. It also doesn't keep frequencies of CPU and RAM where it should be, e.g. RAM set to 3600 would be at 3610Mhz or CPU would be at 3807 etc.

Is the motherboard dying? I have attached picture of the above issue.

Set up is:

Gigabyte b550 aorus elite v2

Ryzen 5800x

2x16 Corsair vengeance 3600cl16

MSI 3070 Gaming Trio X

Two NVMEs, couple more SATA SSDs/HDDs

Corsair TX750M psu

If it isn't keeping frequencies do you mean it isn't being saved? If it is not being saved buy a brand new CMOS battery. They are only a few bucks. Also try updating the BIOS and see if that fixes anything.

It does keep it where I set it but the variance is high. I've looked up other people's bios pictures and ram usually stays where you set it, whereas on my picture you see that it's at 3610.94MHz even though it's set to 3600. Same with CPU frequency. It didn't used to do it and it didn't stutter before it happened (I think? At this point I feel like I'm loosing it cos some fast paced games are too visibly choppy even though avg fps are high).

Try a BIOS update. From what I see there are like 5 different revisions of the Gigabyte b550 aorus elite v2.

Its called spread spectrum, your motherboard is not dying. Both of my gigabyte motherboards does this. My hardware is also identical to yours, CP2077 runs like shit.

Setup negative curve for PBO if you havent already, that helps a ton with CPU gaming performance (though dont expect CP2077 to be better as its GPU bottlenecked not CPU).

Okay, that's one thing off my mind, but the problem is still bothering me. It happens in all games. The Witcher 3 has dips to low 20s also and it stutters. I'm running out of ideas.

It happens no matter if I'm running stable overclock via XMP and pbo+limits or stock. 😕 Pc also sometimes stutters in Windows. I've also tried disabling dynamic tick and HPET, makes no difference.
