I'm currently finishing my degree at University and writing my dissertation. I'm trying to gather some data for this around Antivirus software. I'm asking people to complete a short survey so that I can have data to use in my dissertation.

Filled it out. Just adding my own 2 cents to the answers.
 

On my personal computer, I never really plug anything into it because I never have a reason to. The very few times in my life I've been handed a USB with media have been from a close friend 
 

If I was in a field where I frequently had to plug foreign devices in, or had other computers on the network, I would care more. 
 

The place I work, we have to send everyhting into our US department to get screened before we can plug it in

Finally a survey that somewhat makes sense. I swear so many others have such specific questions and answers that do not apply half of the time you could barely answer properly.

 

Though it's missing some questions like 
"Have you used a different anti virus software before ? If so, which one..."

"Why have you decided to stop using said anti virus"  - With a list of common reasons such as Too expensive, Free alternatives offered comparable protection, Was ressources heavy... Etc etc etc.

On the unknown storage devices part, I answered yes because I have sacrificial test systems. Nuances like this can't be realistically covered in multiple choice.

The first question does not allow for the built in Windows Security AV as an option. I'm going to assume you meant for the "Free" to mean a 3rd party free AV package and "No AV" to mean zero AV protection at all.

 

Windows ships with built in AV and its on by default, this is going to be the most common answer but the survey doesn't account for this.
