My cousin bought a harassement packard laptop last week. It was delivered yesterday. It came with Windows 11 home out of the box but was very slow due to the bloatware. He formatted and freshly installed windows 11 international variant from microsoft's website. Few issues-

- Even after reinstallation the bloatware keeps on coming back with the updates. If we stop them in services.msc it again comes back. We tried to delete these folders but got this error

https://imgur.com/a/1824jgU

How to delete these folders? There is only one user and the user has admin rights. He did use o&o10 after reinstallation to disable and remove other junk by microsoft. Can that be causing this error?

- In the preinstalled windows, he could select the display language as english us or english (our country). But this variant is saying that the windows license supports only one display language

https://imgur.com/a/s8tC2K4

Windows status shows activated. Is this a deal breaker? Would windows 11 us version give option to use different display language here?

P.S. He called harassement packards customer support. Some level 4 guy called him and said that as long as the bios is from them all these softwares will keep on getting auto installed with each windows update as they have some agreement with ms. Moreover if these are removed then warranty becomes void.

Does clicking "Continue" not work?

Also, what are the specs of the laptop?

Yeah its a crap move from these laptop manufacturers, the software will always come back as it is likely coming from a chip of some sort on the motherboard, which I would assume is "vital" for the laptop to work

No it doesn't work.

8gb ram, ryzen 5600h rest I will have to check with him.

What you can do to try and speed up the laptop is to go into settings or task manager and disable autostart for all programs that are not needed.

These hp softwares are not in the autostart but they start after a few minutes after the pc is booted. Any ideas how to remove them? And anything for point 2?

I never bought or dealt with HP laptops / prebuilt, so I don't even know what softwares you're talking about.

Pretty sure you have to refer to your country's customer protection law and see if it allows to do that.

I guess HP comes with HP.

Hewlett Packard, Harrasment Package 😬

Got this about point 1, seems that the level 4 guy is right

Any help about point 2?

All laptops including lenovo, dell comes with this type of bloatware. Since bios will be theirs so is it safe to assume that in case of a fresh install these bloatwares will keep on coming back?

Well, I do have lenovo vantage on my laptop.
Doesn't slow my laptop down so I left it as is. At the very least I don't notice a significant slowdown.

I use it to set charging limit/fast charge my laptop's battery, or set keyboard lighting sometimes anyway.

There are no option as such in BIOS. The support guy said that as bios is from harassement packard and so is the mobo so these bloatware will keep on getting auto installed in every update. This is confirmed by this reddit post

I guess harassement packard is doing this to harvest data, telemetry from a laptop just like nowadays some shitty susbscription is required to use their printers.

As there's nothing that can be done about this so the question now is about the second point which is

Me personally, most likely would try disabling Windows Update Automatic driver download 🤣

Those bloatware will still be installed even if the windows automatic update driver is unchecked. It seems that they are pushing it through the windows os update channel.

The alternative is to disable automatic updates and use Windows Update MiniTool to install updates instead. There you can control where the updates are pulled from, and what are being downloaded and installed.

Realistically, there is no difference between an activated and non-activated versions. You lose customization options, but as far as real usability and security is concerned, there's no difference.

There is no fighting it becasue as per the level 4 guy those bloatwares are inevitable. We might be able to stop them once but windows update would sneak them in somehow. The reddit post says the same. So, we have to ignore this first query. I still wonder why wouldn't they allow us to delete those bloatware folders from that location though.

If possible then please share your insights about the second query.

No no I think I wasn't able to explain the query well, apologies. Here is it again,

In the preinstalled windows in the laptop, he could select the display language as english US or english (our country). Just try.

I'm not listening to a technician because they probably WANT that stuff installed. You're essentially just giving up without even putting in any kind of effort to try to circumvent it.

The beauty about the tool is that you can select specifically what gets installed, and hide things you don't want installed, but to prevent Windows Update from interfering, you would also need to use O&O ShutUp10 and configure Windows Update from there.

Does that only come up when displaying a different language than the default? To me, I think it's only saying you can't use more than one language.

But either way, if you're forced to use an unactivated version of Windows as a result, it won't matter.
