The bottom slot is x16 2.0, you would have zero performance loss.

What do you think killed my GTX 480?  heat or voltage?

Do look at the posted image before vs the 660Ti.

Voltage i know, but why ?; because over voltage makes the GPU generate more heat because it's running on higher power delivery than Stock, the point is, Heat

No, it is the increase current, heat was a non-issue, is why LN2 is LN2, no matter how cold parts are.

Not even a TITAN Z can saturate 2.0 x16.

Right. I switched my second gpu to the bottom slot of my motherboard, connected it up. The pc failed to start when I pushed the start button. I switched the second gpu to the original slot, same problem. One of my gpus has a power indicator light whenever power from the psi is getting to it, that is still lighting. Though my pc won't turn on still.

Very odd issue, did any other cables get knocked whilst you were working inside the case? give them all a quick check mate.

come on Recon, if it was a AMD GPU, huum yes, you could say that, but for nVidia, even for Kepler based GPU, it's dangerous, specially for the long run as he stated

Aren't AMD and Nvidia gpus made from same materials, why wouldn't nvidia gpu handle same temps as amd?

Also, nvidi site says it's max temp is 95c and gtx 480 was fine at even +95c

Pull the card (s) out and recheck the PCI-E slot, also if you have a bios reset switch on the board, make sure to use it.

If you still have no power, there is a clrCMOS jumper you need to use to clear the bios back to stock settings.

Ahh crap, might be limited to the first 2 slots.

I do not think it is though, as the bottom slot is x16, it would need to be x4 to not be SLi ready, Nvidia purposely only enable x8 and x16 slots for SLi.
