$250 Laptop (Non-Gaming)

Hey I am looking for a laptop for my mom just for browser and M$ office use. It can use integrated graphics. Something along the lines of ThinkPad T480 but on Amazon. Maybe a little cheaper than a T480. Budget is $250 but would prefer lower.

She went to a local PC shop and found these but they all look horrible:

$99.99 - Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 @2.5Ghz. 3GB RAM. 250GB HDD. Integrated graphics. Win 10.

$299.99 - Intel Pentium Dual Core E5300 @2.6Ghz. 4GB RAM. 240GB SSD. Integrated graphics. Win 10.

$249.99 - Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 @2.53Ghz. 4GB RAM. 240GB SSD. Win 10. ATI Radeon HD2400 PRO.

What country are you in, and is buying used an option?

At that budget, I'd recommend getting an off-lease corporate laptop with at least an 8th gen Intel CPU. Parts are abundant, they're made better than any new consumer laptop at that price point, and it will have official Windows 11 support. You can find tons of decent Dell Latitudes within your budget on eBay in the US.

Please, please do not buy any of the machines from that local shop! If those prices are in USD, they're highway robbery. It's 2024 and they're charging 2012 prices for 2007 computers. 🤦‍♂️

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

I am in Ontario, Canada. Yes I would prefer used.

I will look into Dell Latitudes thank you. Now that I am looking it might be better to get a laptop.

I told her those computers are really bad technology from 2008 that are way over priced. It is sad because I want to support the little guy.

Inspiron is the consumer line, you'd want to search for Latitude or Vostro instead.
HP EliteBook/ProBook is also an excellent option - ThinkPads, though, are often overpriced and not worth it.

agree with the posts above, for 250$ you can get something like the thinkpad T480, which is a really good laptop for everyday use

So after speaking with her quickly I asked her why she wanted a desktop and she said because they were cheaper than his laptops.

So I think I will get her a laptop. Looking for some advice on which of these is best?

Should I be worried that Win10 is soon to be end of life?

Windows 11 is a free upgrade to Windows 10.

These are all terrible deals. Like these are 100$ and less ebay laptops.
