PC Idling but runing hot

NickHere

Hi Expert,

I'm facing some issues. My CPU and GPU run hot and high even its at idling. Unused Background app and has already disable. My small temp monitor (picture will be attached below) shows, CPU 56% (85 Degree) , GPU 99% (62 Degree).

From the start I tot the temp monitor is not working. But I notice even idling the GPU fan is runing. Suppose to run only high load.

Once I Ctrl Atl Del (Task Manager) the data on the screen goes all to 1 percent load for both GPU and CPU.

Do I miss out any setting ?

Ram 32GB

Win11

Run a malware scan, you might have a cryptominer on your system.

(Don't use McAfee or Norton, they have a high chance of not finding anything)

That really sounds like juice jacking malware
Also, if the CPU has original paste on it, I'd recommend repasting it, that CPU......... doesn't exist. Now I assume it's a typo'd 14700KF which is new enough that it shouldn't need a new pasting

You might want to try running malwarebytes.

Or at very very minimum running some form of scan.  It sounds like you have something that's like a cryptominer running on your system.

If you really don't want to run a scan [which I seriously recommend you run some scan] you could download process monitor (It's a Microsoft tool(.  It shows a lot more detail of the processes running on your computer [and malware is less likely to throttle back]

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/procmon

If you do run a scan and find a virus/malware, I would recommend doing a clean install of Windows

What program is best for malware scan? What's a cryptominer. Is it default Installed. How do I disable it.  Cause its quite a clean win 11 with only afew game installed

As others have said, use Malwarebytes, it's free and has a good reputation.

The malware might have been included with a infected file from a untrustworthy source.

1) A program that calculates cryptocurrencies using your hardware.

2) No, it's malware!

3)Antivirus

Wipe the machine. If you don't know what is causing it. Wipe it and start over.

If you're not willing to do that, then your next option is a USB boot drive with Linux on it to scan the drive if it's unencrypted. If it's encrypted, then your best option is Wipe and start over.

Adding to that, use an official Windows ISO from Microsoft for the reinstall if you weren't already doing that, sometimes third-party ISOs can be infected.

When it finds the malware, it will attempt to erase it, if that isn't possible, it will quarantine the malware so it can't run anymore.

Not more than it is already doing by stressing your hardware, which shouldn't result in physical damage, but can increase wear.

You still want to get rid of it, because someone is basically stealing your computers power and wasting your electricity.

Is it a prebuilt? If yes, it's almost definitely first party.

I had installed walwarebytes and scanned.

Removed 77 of it.

But once remove, malware kept prompting me new malware found but was moved to quarante.

Is it ok?

Anyways to remove completely?

The quarantined files couldn't be deleted (at least not automatically), but are now "disabled", meaning they cannot run whatever code they contain.

Try uninstalling and after a reboot reinstalling it, the malware likely snuck into a write-protected part of Chrome's directory.

As long as your PC behaves like it should and the Malware is no longer active, I would just leave it, if you want you can also do a clean reinstall (of Windows), though you may need another computer to properly wipe the drive.

Yeah, I recommend a clean reinstall.

Back up your personal files before you format your boot drive, but nothing that you downloaded from the internet, so you don't accidentally back the malware up.

As for how to do a clean reinstall, there are guides for that online.

If you want to be absolutely sure that the malware is gone, you can also completely replace the boot drive and destroy the old one instead of formatting, but I think secure erasing it should be enough.
