Hey so this is my first time posting on the forum, and i been watching Linus for ages. but anyways i could really use some help with a new personal project i'm working on about what hardware to chose.

im building a new rig and im looking at gaming heavily But also a lot of video editing and rendering..

i have got my GPU sorted (GTX 680 classified 4GB 1.1 GHz core clock 6GHz memory clock - this will be overclocked considerably)

but unsure whether to get [i7 3770K @ 3.5] or [FX-8350 8 core @4.0GHz] so from there i can decide on a motherboard and finally chose between a windowed 500R with water-cooling on show, or 500R with closed case with H100I's and less show off motherboard(probably cheaper)

so what im asking is, do i go for the Intel or AMD CPU I've talked about? remembering this is for gaming and video editing

and the second question is do i cheap out on motherboard and go non-windowed case, or or go for a nicer motherboard and go out on water-cooling? also which would cool better, H100I's on cpu and gpu, or a full water circuit

im just rambling on now, with the cost of the nice motherboard and full water circuit i could probably get another GTX 680 or pocket the extra cash

use is gaming mainly but also video editing and rendering

You could get a R9 290 to replace your GTX 680.

@TheZinex will you be salvaging any parts from your current pc?

Defiantly go with the 3770k (Upgrading to a 4770k would be even better :P

thankyou for suggestion

the clock speed of a GTX 680 is 1111 MHz on a R9 290 its only 1000 MHz?   is the R9 290 worth £90 more?

just looked into it more:  4GB EVGA GTX 680 Classified, 28nm, PCIe 3.0, 6008MHz GDDR5, GPU 1111MHz, Boost 1176MHz, Cores 1536 = £250 4GB Asus Radeon R9 290 DirectCU II OC, 28nm, 5040MHz GDDR5, GPU 1000MHz, 2560 Streams = £320

:P
