Intel Nvidia to AMD

So I'm acquiring an all AMD system (Ryzen 3900x, 6700xt) from a co-worker and I currently have an Intel Nvidia pc(i5 8400, GTX 1080), mainly wanting to swap the drives as the one im already using is larger and faster but I know there will be some driver issues in windows if I just do a straight swap, I was wondering if there is a way to do the swap without a full windows re-install as I don't have the original files for either machine to do so, or if im overthinking the windows fresh install, any video links would be greatly appreciated as I have found a few but they all go about it differently

Unless you are worried about specific programs that aren't windows itself I would recommend a fresh install of windows to alleviate any risk for software related headaches.

I've had zero success swapping drives with Windows installs between installations. Every time it either results in instability or immediately bluescreens the moment it tries to boot.

Ive transferred my drive from a intel mobo to an AMD platform. It required a bit of fiddeling about with the bios settings to get it to use the right drive as launch drive, but it has worked without a hitch for the last 2 years. (Im running windows 10, I don't know if that matters)

Remember to transfer your windows licens from your old motherboard to your new.

mITX is awesome! I regret nothing (apart from when picking parts or have to do maintainance *cough*cough*)

So you didn't do anything aside from getting the drive selected as the boot drive?

Just straight up swapping it in general or from intel to amd and vice versa?

It works the exact same way with the same commands and everything. You'd just use this link to create installation media instead.

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

Nope. Maybe I got lucky, but it just worked.

But as I said, remember to transfer the windows license as it locks on to the motherboard

In general. I've done AMD to Intel, AMD to AMD, and Intel to AMD. All three were disasters. Haven't tried Intel to Intel nor do I plan to in the future.
