Upgrading Current System

I am looking to upgrade and repurpose my current rig into a streaming pc. I was thinking about replacing the GPU with an intel a770 for the AV1 encoder and get the Elgato MK2 4k Pro. What is your opinion on this? I’m looking to stream 1440p 60fps to YouTube, the current capture card died unfortunately. I will be using consoles as the source media. The software I want to use is OBS for streaming. My budget is $1k US for what makes sense to upgrade. Any help will be appreciated! I’ll attach my current build below.

Your build is pretty balanced as is, the only thing that makes sense to upgrade here is probably the gpu, for the AV1 encoding as you said, and save the rest for a new system in the future

Do you only need the GPU for AV1 encoding or should it have enough performance for gaming as well? Otherwise, something like an A380 would be a much cheaper option to get AV1 in hardware. Current gen AMD and Nvidia cards support it as well, and might be a better option if the card is also used for gaming.

Remember to either quote or @mention others, so they are notified of your reply

That’s true, I agree, but he has a 1k budget. His current stuff would lag behind a bit today, and a full overhaul would spike the performance

Just for encoding, I don’t need to game on my rig. I’ll be gaming on some consoles and just passing the video through.

If anything this will be my go to if the GPU upgrade doesn’t work as intended. The build you laid out is awesome! Thank you!!

theres a microcenter 7700x bundle for 400$ which shaves off 45$ whilst upgrading the cpu to a 7700x

If you don’t game on the rig then grab something super light. Idk exact specs you’d need but like an old Xeon workstation with a decent Xeon in it +lp a380 would be fine I think
