Pc Build Advice

Budget (including currency): 1500 usd

Country: Murica

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Various gaming applications, mostly vehicle simulation and strategy

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I probably would like to play at a 2k resolution and I already own a mouse and keyboard. Additionally, I'm getting about 250$ off the the build by purchasing a bundle at microcenter.

So, is this a decent build, and are any cables or other knick knacks required other than what is specifically listed in the build. Any Advice Greatly Appreciated.

If the PC is part of a bundle, what are you actually allowed to change?

The most obvious thing I can see is getting a 7600 non-X or 7700 non-X, which means you can drop the cooler. You could do the same with the case, by buying one which includes enough of the fans that you can drop the fan pack.

I'd also consider squeezing your budget on the RAM and the SSD and downgrading the motherboard, with the intention of upgrading to a 7700 XT (or better, ideally a 7900 GRE).

The 7600 XT is really meant for 1080p, so you're kind of pre-obsoleting your PC by buying a card with this level of performance for 2K today.

I'd buy a monitor with speakers rather than those external speakers, but I don't know if there is such a suitable monitor for you.

Here's a list of similar monitors to yours with speakers : https://pcpartpicker.com/products/monitor/#r=256001440&D=150000,540000&a=16009&C=1&S=1

I'd get a thermal Assassin cooler or similar.

The rest seems fine to me.

I bet you could get by cheaper (7600/7700 instead of 7700X...), but if it's fine for you it's fine for me.

-250$ sounds great !

I disagree with the pre-obsoleting your PC, he'll be able to change that card tomorrow easily.

I know it can easily be changed. What I mean is, buying a card that can barely do 1440p already in the newest/most demanding games, it just isn't going to last *. If the OP doesn't play many AAA games or just wants 1440p/60 then fair enough, but otherwise I'd take a hacksaw to the spec to jam in a better card.

* E.g. in TPU's 1440p average it hits 63.7 fps (max settings, no ray tracing, no upscaling), with some games barely above 30 fps and some games below.

By that I was referring to the cpu, mobo, and ram, which I'm able to get 230 dollars off by buying them together

I also have to ask, what can I buy instead of a 7600xt as my budget is fairly tight

It is hard to give specific advice because I don't know how much it will impact your bundle deal.

In this build, I kept it "as is", but I swapped:

- 7700X for a 7700 non-X and dumped your cooler.

- Corsair case for Lian Li 216 and dumped the fan pack.

- 7600 XT to a 6800 non-XT.

AMD Ryzen 7 7700 Raphael AM5 3.8GHz 8-Core Boxed Processor - Wraith Prism Cooler Included - $259.99
MSI B650-P PRO WiFi AMD AM5 ATX Motherboard - $219.99

Build Total: $1,630.90

If I go even further:

- 7700X for a 7700 non-X and dumped your cooler.

- MSI B650 motherboard for MSI B650M-P.

- G.Skill Flare XS for Crucial Pro *.

- Corsair case for Lian Li 205M and dumped the fan pack.

- 7600 XT to a 7900 GRE.

AMD Ryzen 7 7700 Raphael AM5 3.8GHz 8-Core Boxed Processor - Wraith Prism Cooler Included - $259.99

* I'd keep your memory ideally, since it is much better for $10, but your build was $1645.88 and I tried to stay under.
