Intel to amd cpu

Hi, so I’m upgrading my cpu and motherboard from intel to amd and I have a question

Since I’m making this change, do I need to completely wipe my storage? I’ve for 2x m.2 and kinda don’t wanna while anything so I don’t have to wait to reinstall all the big games

Please help!

Technically, wiping is the best case scenario to ensure no driver conflict from the previous system on the OS.

However, you should be fine by uninstalling all previous Intel motherboard drivers and installing the new drivers for the AMD motherboard.

How many storages?

Dedicated storage for files might be ok, but it's better to re-install Windows.

You don't need to wipe your storage fully, but you'd better do a fresh Windows install due to different drivers

And how can I do that?

Uninstall through Control Panel or Settings application on Windows.

Yup, Windows will try to do uninstall of drivers but always good after migration to check installed apps and remove intel stuff there, also go into Device Manager > View > Show hidden devices

And then uninstall Intel devices and remove drivers there too.

It's possible but there will be INTEL driver when you swap the cpu. I never found this scenario, most of people would do fresh install.

Either you delete the drive manually / re-install windows from scratch / back up your game to external storage.

I'd create backups of your important files before you switch regardless of what route you choose. Getting stuck in a BSOD boot loop is rare nowadays with a hardware swap, but it does still happen.
