Is my SSD dying?

Zekrom75

Hey everyone, so I recently "upgraded"  from an SN770 to a used Sabrent Rocket 2TB. I know that you avoid buying used SSDs but I found that the price was right and I made sure to do some due diligence before buying it by checking info on CrystalDiskInfo, running some benchmarks and Sabrent Control Panel recognized it. Since the number of bytes written, power on hours, SSD health, and temp under benchmark all look reasonable and low I decided to purchase it.

Fast forward to now and for some reason, the drive would sometimes go missing after a long period of the laptop being unused or after shut down/restart.  The drive would show up again after a couple of shuts down and turn the laptop on again. I thought the drive was dying and went to check CrystalDiskInfo again but nothing seems to indicate the drive is dying, health is still looking good, temp is fine, but one oddity is that the number of error information log entries is very high and still increasing so I'm just wondering what is going on with my SSD.

Appreciate it if anyone has any insight on it. And one last thing I noticed during one time the SSD went missing is that there is a drive icon in File Explorer with the drive letter and a blue question mark next to it, maybe it's indicating something.

Here is a screenshot of the SSD's CrystalDiskInfo page:

Smart is ok.
I would rather look for c states, fast boot, and windows fast startup.

and error in event log?

My laptop is on S3 sleep states, fast boot and fast startup is enabled.

One thing I would notice is that sometimes I just wake up the laptop from sleep and the laptop was shut down and the drive was gone when it boot up. But after exactly2 shuts down and restarts it will come back so really odd behaviour and wondering if anyone has any insight on it.

Try higher C state sleep ( if you have that option ), disable fast boot, fast startup ( one at a time, and see if anything’s helps ).

it’s so odd, that there is high probability, it's one of these.

How can I change my C state sleep? I couldn't find any info on this. Also, Sabrent was cool enough to make an exception and let me send the drive in for RMA even though it's a second-hand drive. But no guarantee that I will get a replacement so fingers-crossed. If they deny the warranty then I'll check these steps out.

Sometimes there’s setting for it in uefi, if there’s not, then you can’t.
