i needed a bigger screen, wont be gaming much cuz this igpu isnt capable of it

The usual way is to buy and see with these things unless you find absolute information, sadly.

Since your laptop is pretty old, it's ought to have its own procedure as to how the HDMI algo works.

I'd recommend going small and high refresh just to be on the safe end.
