Seagate 3.5 inch HDD Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM008 won't fit in an external dock—baffling.

I have a couple of Thermaltake HDD docks. One is newish that it supports USB 3 and SATA 6. The other is only standard IDE (no longer needed) USB 2. The newer dock supports 2.5 inch HDDs without problem. No issues with older SATA 6 WD and Seagate drives either.  Just this new quasi-hybrid HDD. 

 

I have an older Windows 7 PC and I took out two ST2000DM008 2TB 7200 rpm drives and tried to insert one into the dock but it won't insert. The SATA 6 port won't line up, I think. As if there is something on the new drive which won't allow it to be inserted. There are no issues with the width of the HDD. The depth is 146.99 mm

 

I contacted Seagate and they weren't helpful. They say not to use a HDD dock. Thermaltake says my dock is no longer supported and are unable to examine the spec sheet for it. 

 

I don't want to buy a new dock if the HDDs won't fit. Can anyone share any insight?

I should add that I haven't found any reliable plug-in USB 3 SATA 6 cable adapters online. All seem to be rated poorly or just don't work.
