Budget (including currency): 150,000 LKR

Country: Sri Lanka

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 1440p AAA gaming. Generally not competitive games.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I am building my first PC and I got some great advice from r/buildapcforme and this forum. However, at that time, I wasn't buying the Case, PSU and RAM. I plan to buy them this week and finish my build. Unfortunately, I am not sure if I am picking the correct parts or if they are even compatible. Also, I understand Sri Lanka is not an option in PCPP so giving country tailored advice would be difficult. So for reference, my budget is around $450 USD. (For anyone interested, this isn't the actual USD to LKR rate considered here because the VAT here is very high so I needed to keep a small buffer.)

I did select three parts that I think would go well and bring the build together. The PC Part Picker List is: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vFMxjH

The Case I selected is the NZXT H6 Flow RGB. The reason I chose this was that I like the look and it seems to have a lot of space at the back for easy cable management which I know I will struggle with. This is also one of the reasons I didn't select a Lian Li Case since they have a glass on both sides and my atrocious cable management skills would be clearly visible.

For the PSU I selected the Corsair RM850e. The RAM is the Corsair Vengeance RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory. Please let me know if these selections are good or if there is anything I can do to make it better.

Furthermore, I saw that the NZXT H6 Flow only has three fans. Would I need to add a rear fan so that there is at least one exhaust or more exhaust fans to balance out the three intakes? Additionally, the fans I buy separately, would I need to buy them in a pack and connect them to the motherboard via a controller or can I plug it directly into the motherboard? I spoke to a tech at a PC parts store and they said plugging it directly into the motherboard can run the risk of burning the fan. I wasn't sure if this was true so I wanted to get more information.

Any feedback/advice you can give me is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Edit: I failed to mention that I have already purchased the other parts and only need to buy the RAM, Case and PSU. Sorry for any confusion.

Your parts look good. GPU should fit fine. You can always check dimensions on manufacturers website for GPU length and PSU length along with fans and radiator comparability.

For that guy from the store 😂 no you can plug fans directly into the motherboard. That's what you do with the cpu fan. That's how all my fans are connected.

Controllers can actually be more dangerous unless they are also powered separately. Each fan pulls an amount of watts and the connection can only sustain a certain load. Your motherboard manual should list this.

I'm also sure you are eager and nervous to build but I wish you the best.

I also want to note the connection on the GPU would be 12VHPWR. It doesn't appear this(the PSU in your part list) comes with the exact cable. It could be beneficial to get a psu that includes this cable. Here are a couple of you can get them.

Make sure to plug this cable in completely and hear a click. Dealing with the weird attachment Nvidia gives you is just a nuisance. Their weird little GPU tentacles

Overall looks like a solid build.

Depending if you case comes with any fans at all, but that CPU runs VERY cool, even with the RTX4070S in there...

Your build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vFMxjH = $1713.49

I could come up with a couple of ideas based on my preferred parts, just to make you think.... but honestly the CPU suggestion is the only one I would urge you to go for.

CPU: see if you can get a 7600X without the cooler. It's a faster CPU and they're normally about $30 cheaper, since you're buying a cooler anyway!

Motherboard: consider the Asrock B650 RS Pro WiFi for a $60 saving or the Asrock B650 RS Pro for a $90 saving (slightly better VRMs than the ASUS B650 TUF. I've seen the other ASUS B650 boards have very weak VRMs, but the B650 TUF actually seems okay, so still a good choice if you need any extra features they offer).

RAM: I love the compatibility + stability of GSkill RAM and it's actually over $20 cheaper than the Corsair (and the same speeds), but no RGB.

Case: if you want space around the back.... the Lian Li O11 Air Mini that I use is NOT to everybody's taste, but the space behind the motherboard is so deep they even hide the PSU there!! $30 cheaper too.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rL4QYN

Most of those are just personal taste / bias.... all the parts you've gone for are pretty solid though... just see if you can find that cheaper 7600X!

Main rig: Ryzen 7 7800X3D, RTX3080Ti FE, 32Gb Teamgroup Create-T DDR5-6000C30, AC Freezer3 280mm AIO, Asrock Steel Legend X670E, M.2 2Tb Samsung 990 Pro, M.2 1Tb WDSN550, SATA 8Tb WD80EFAX, Corsair HX850, LianLi O11 Air Mini + 3x NF-A14's, MSI MPG 271QRX (27"/1440P/360Hz), Gigabyte M27Q (27"/1440P/170Hz), Asus PA248 (24"/1200P/60Hz), G815 kbd, G Pro X Superlight 2, Audezee Maxwell.

Thank you for the feedback. I will definitely check it out. Is there a way I can check which cables are available in the PSU? I couldn't find it on the Corsair website and PCPP lists a 12+4 pin connector from the PSU.

Also, thank you for your well wishes, I am both excited and terrified at attempting to build it. 😄

I was initially looking for G Skill RAM but unfortunately I couldn't find any CL30 or 6000 MHz AMD EXPO sticks in Sri Lanka.

I really like the case suggestion but because I already bought the Motherboard, it isn't an option. That case is really cool though. I didn't expect an M-ATX case with that much space.

I did consider the 7600X but the main reason I didn't get it is because in the review benchmarks I watched, the 7600X didn't have much of a FPS performance boost over the 7600. Therefore I decided to go for the 7600 and use the savings on the other parts. I was anyway going to get a cooler because Sri Lanka is so warm, any I read some negative reviews on the stock cooler in the 7600.

Thank you so much for the feedback!

Oh yes sorry, I was trying to look at product description and the side of the PSU. There is a 12VHPWR cable included, it is a dual 8-pin to the 12+4. I couldn't find the listed watts for that cable. You should be good tho

Some other PSUs list power for that cable if you want to be sure or there may be a manual you can find

Hunting down some of these power specs or info are troublesome

Happy to have my understanding corrected, but 12VHPWR spec should be a flat standard: I don't think they are allowed to advertise it as 12VHPWR unless it safely delivers 150W (12V 12.5A) per connector.

I see. Thank you for letting me know. I shall definitely check the manual too. Is it safe to plug a 12 + 4 or should I look for one that has some sort of 16 pin cable? Sorry if that is a ridiculous question, the PSU cables and stuff have always confused me.

Some PSU manufacturers list their cables as 450W or 600W on the connector for 12VHPWR... Which is odd when the old recommendation was 150W per 8-pin pcie. I don't think they are necessarily lying it's just each manufacturer kinda lists the cables at different watts and has different numbers of 8-pin cables or a direct 16 pin. I'm sure they are all listed in the manual.

For the one(graphics card) OP is managing to get its more of a non issue but more informative cause people tend to keep their PSU on upgrades and what you can plug in or upgrade to.

I can also be wrong too 😂 these are just some odd things I've seen

Oh I'm sorry I may have made it confusing with the 12+4 and 16 pin. They can be used interchangeably in a naming sense. 12 pins used for power and ground and 4 sense pins which are suppose to 'talk' back and forth between GPU and PSU

I also don't like their weird name as they have a version 2 of this connector.. to hopefully improve it.

So these cables are all adequate

Some companies have 3 8-pins to a 12VHPWR(12+4 or 16pin, whatever you wanna call it) some have 2 8-pins to that connector. As long as it's the 8-pin pcie connectors to that 16 pin it should be good. I'll try to peruse the manual here

I could not find the connectors rating but also they call their a dual 8-pin EPS12V 😂

It looks like they don't list the power number exactly but the Internet says good for 600W lol maybe best to message the company. I was hoping it would be more transparent as the connection can be anything from 150W to 600W based on component quality.

I also went down a rabbit hole of people on Reddit wishing the manufacturers listed their cables ratings for 12VHPWR... Apparently some PSUs support up to 450W+ but come with a 300W cable

There is also a belief they give you a cable based on your PSU wattage

I did find EVGA listing this one with the cable at 600W

EVGA Supernova 850G XC ATX3.0 & PCIE 5, 80 Plus Gold Certified 850W, 12VHPWR, Fully Modular, ECO Mode with FDB Fan, 100% Japanese Capacitors, Compact 150mm Size, Power Supply 520-5G-0850-K1 https://a.co/d/ivOfYPo

Thank you for all the additional information. I see I have a lot to learn. I shall definitely read the manual and figure out what to plug in where. Also, considering the motherboard provides 75W, I guess whatever the case, the PSU should be supplying enough power to the GPU.

Thank you for all the help and taking the time to explain everything.
