If you absolutely need it to work, it will, but it will do cosmetic damage as it essentially retaps the hole and the screw. Nothing catastrophic, but not ideal.

Hey all I am looking to purchase some screws from Amazon for my 3.5" HDDs. Issue being is that the nice ones are all M[x] a.k.a. Metric.

I know the size of a HDD screw is 6-32x1/4 but I need to know the equivalent of that in Metric. Only thing I've been able to find is a size of m3.5x0.6.

These are the ones I am thinking about purchasing: Here

So does anyone know what the size it would be?

There is no such thing as a metric 6-32 screw, it is just a 6-32 screw.

However if you just want the metric dimensions of the screw they are 3.5052 mm diameter with a pitch of 0.7938 mm

So are you saying a M3.5 would or would not fit my needs?

M3.5 and #6 are slightly different, as far as I know.

If you need to buy HDD screws, you can just search #6-32 screws, which will fit.

English is not my first language, so please excuse any confusion or misunderstandings on my end.

I like to edit my posts a lot.

No, the thread pitch is different. They can be forced but it will destroy the threads.
