Between @CoolBeans & @SAV1OUR damn it's close. I would go with the 780 system option I think although the 780 ti based system is very tempting

Is AMD as good as Intel? I've heard that Intel is the way to go and to avoid AMD... but then again I am brand new to this.

Will 8GB of RAM be enough for a mid level gaming PC? Also, I had heard that Radon and Intel don't work well together. But I am new to all of this, so I'll trust people that have been doing this for awhile.

AMD is a better value no question, but unless he's rendering and on a sub $1,000 budget it's not a good choice.  AM3+ is dead and the FX series CPU's do very poorly in single threaded games.  Planetside 2 and WoW will do better on a Pentium G3420 than an FX-8350.  But there is no game where an FX-8350 spanks an I5-4670k.  Sure they trade but the I5 doesn't get destroyed in any game like the FX-8350 does in some scenarios.

i know not in all games but amds still very good for gaming

Avoid the HAF 932, 3 words: No Dust Filters.

Yes 8GB is enough, Yes Intel+AMD work together.  But don't get the Asus R9-290.  The only 290's that don't overheat is the Twin Frozr, PCS and Sapphire's lineup.  The Gigabyte and Asus ones use the 780 cooler and it doesn't make proper contact.

The DCUII is a great cooler... And just don't make a statement without fact. :)
