No lights, no fans, nothing.

I just had a power outage and my pc hasnt started since the power came back, the usual steps I take to "fix" it don't work.

It works sometimes, but the main thing that causes it to not work, is it being off for periods longer than 2 hours

If it manages to start now again, it will work as long as I keep it turned on. Off > 2 hrs makes it not work

sounds like a PSU issue, make sure all your connections are plugged in properly, inspect the PSU wires and make sure there is no damage, do the same with all the connectors on the MOBO. If that doesn't work I would be looking into getting a new PSU. What size PSU do you have? My reasoning for suspecting this is because you didnt turn your PSU off and I'm assuming you didnt shut down your PC properly (bcuz most people just hit the button on the case which doesnt shut it down fully just puts it into a hibernation mode) something might have happened when the power cut bcoz ur PSU was still running therefore it could have done something to the BIOS or other parts. IDK if I'm right (Im probably not I have zero experience except learning what other people on this server have said). Sorry for the paragraph but I hope this helps!

Allo, making post cause ive already gone through the pinned topic  regarding pc not posting to no avail.

RTX 3060 TI GPU

Ryzen 7 5700x CPU

B450 Tomahowk MAX Mobo

NvMe SSD

DeepCool 550W PSU

Corsair Vengance  1 x 32GB 3200mhz RAM ( in the the debug/troubleshooting slot according to mobo manual)

I live in a relatively small town and have already taken my rig in but they couldn't find any fault.

Basically where I'm from we have scheduled power outages for 2 hours at a time. PC is plugged into a multiplug with a surge protector into the wall socket,  have a generator we use for some of the outages aswell

After a scheduled power cut ( PC stays plugged into surge protector into wall when power drops, ive tried it without aswell) my PC refuses to POST

Ive tried different CPU, tried cpu with integrated, swapping out ram, cmos, different power supply leaving peripherals out, turning it off before the power cuts.

What has worked so far

In the very beginning simply reseating CPU did the trick

that doesn't work anymore, rebuilding the entire PC worked a few times, but got pretty tedious having to repaste and put everything back together

I have done the powerclip test on PSU, ive shorted cmos and replaced with a brand new one, screwdriver on mobo to start to check faulty power button

ive left the mobo on mobo box overnight to see if its the case maybe like a short idk? ive rescrewed the standoffs and backpanel, inspected mobo for any cracks and found no damage

sometimes taking peripherals out and waiting 30 mins makes it start again, sometimes taking HDMI out( can that drain cmos or short somehow since power to screen stays on?)

I am clueless and have no idea what to do anymore, the repair shop couldn't help me because they couldn't replicate the problem

But generally after leaving it plugged in and turned on on the psu for upwards of an hour will make it start again

Its not completely broken but its making me go insane because I cant find the fault

Please ask any questions, I can also send screenshots if that would help and lastly thanks in advance for any and all assistance I REALLY appreciate it.

Best wishes

When you say "PC refuses to POST" something still happens, right ? some leds, fans spinning (psu fan)...

I don't quite understand. Your computer doesn't work anymore/ Your computer does work until the next power outage/ Your computer does work sometimes ? (I understood you rebuilding often fixes the problem for a while)

Swapped in an 10 year old 500W PSU and pc instantly booted, maybe the forced shutdowns from power outages damaged the PSU, i just dont understand how sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, was under the impression Mobo/PSU are either dead or not and there is usually no in between, thanks regardless, kudos!

I believe this depends on settings (wether in windows or bios, not sure) because when I push the button my pc shuts down fully.

So it's fixed ? in that case it's not so bad. 10 year is ok for a psu

Yeah suddenly cutting power from something can always damage it, it might have not been fully broken before but when you restarted it and used the PC it might have just kept on killing the PSU. Glad I could help!

Don't be too glad, I did half the work.

One post prior to my solution asking the question if anything happens when OP tries to turn on the PC isn't even close to 1% of the work.

I disagree, I asked purposeful questions and got a specific answer "No lights, no fans, nothing. " which led pretty straightforward to the solution. You based your guess on that answer (go and check it).

(I was playing HZD at that time, otherwise I'd have likely proposed in that direction too.)

This could have been nice team work.
