New customer build

Advent

Long time no build! Been busy with gaming, setting up to stream and getting ready to launch my YouTube channel so haven't had much time to post here!

Anyhow I have a customer who wants me to build them a machine. They play COD:MW2 and other FPS but I wanted to build this system with speed and performance in mind, and add a little room for future proofing/scalability. Ideally I'd like to be able to get this @ or slightly under $1,200 to allow for some markup on my end. Here are the parts right now.

NOTES: I went with the AMD FX-4350 because of its high clock rate and the fact that it runs most games well for the price point.
The cooler was chosen because the customer will be overclocking. The FX-4350 runs hot as is. So don't go recommending the Hyper EVO :P.
The motherboard is up for debate, I liked the features and color scheme. The RAM must be 16 GB, so please don't suggest 8 GB. Brand is debatable, however.
The SSD is a must. I went with the Samsung 840 Evo because it is one of the fastest on the market and is really reliable. I am open to suggestions.
I have the WD drive in stock hence the $0 price.
The 780 would be good for some of the latest titles but I guess I could get away with a 770? Thoughts.
I went with the Fractal case because I have always had good experiences building in them and it doesn't break the bank.

The estimated wattage atm is around 500+W, so I went with a 650W in case he decided to drop more stuff into this computer. I will be adding a few additional fans which I have in stock.

So have at it, suggestions welcomed. :D

Quite the imbalanced build.

Psu is overkill. A decent 550w is already plenty. You could run the system off of the rm450 if you really wanted to.

Why such a large ssd?

The motherboard and cooler is a huge waste of money. You'd get much better performance by just getting a more powerful cpu in the first place.

8GB is plenty for gaming 16GB is unnecessary.

Are you limited to Newegg or are you open to other US shops?

By other FPS's, what do you mean? Specifically the games, because it doesn't take a lot to run MW2, lol.

He plans to dump another GPU in at some point. Hence the 650. I could go down to a 550W though.

The large SSD? Well, he plays lots of games. the COD series, BF series, Rust, CS:GO/S, LOL etc. He requested a 256 GB SSD. *EDIT: I notice I put in a 500GB by mistake, will edit*.

In regards to the motherboard, cooler and CPU, what would you get then?

He wants 16 GB of ram, he dabbles in Photoshop, After Effects, Premier Pro and the like.

I use Newegg because I have a business account.

Currently, the 6300 is around the same price, and performs much better. I don't see how these parts were even chosen...

Edit: With an 8320, people have reached insane overclocks at great temperatures with just the Hyper 212 EVO. Don't need anything more, unless you're using the 9xxx series cpus.

Build: CPU: Intel Core i5 4690k | CPU Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo | Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming 5 | RAM: 8GB G-Skill Ares 1600Mhz CL9 | Storage: 120GB Samsung 840 Evo + WD Blue 1TB 64MB Cache + Seagate Barracuda 2TB 64MB Cache | GPU: MSI GTX 960 | Case: Cooler Master Storm Enforcer | Power Supply: EVGA 600B Non-Modular |

Seems extremely unbalanced to me. I'd go for a cheaper board, a FX-6300/6350. Also, if he plans on putting another 780 in there, I would go with a 750w PSU. You'd be cutting it pretty thin with a 650W.

Eventually. But that could be further down the road. Here is the updated parts list.

NOTE: The 650W PSU is cheaper than the 550W PSU of the same series on Newegg. So I stuck with it.

I'd go for this, the 8320 completely wipes the 4350 and the cooler is good enough to get it to at least 4.0.

Edit: Or switch the PSU to This for a second GPU in the future.

I don't get your CPU and cooling choices. Almost like custom-looping an i3  Combine that with the massive motherboard overkill and you end up with a $1700 system driven by a FX-4350.

Mistakes were mad and being corrected. I hardly ever deal with AMD CPUs, so I'm a bit out of the loop.

Here is what I ended up with. The customer already has the RAM and was willing to go up to $1700 (gives me ~$300 markup). They are going to forgo the 2nd GPU. So this should work.

Just wish the Noctua came with black fans xD god I hate that cream color.

With such tall ram, I'd suggest going with the u14s instead: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/noctua-cpu-cooler-nhu14s

If he's going to just go with a 290, a decent 550w is plenty. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/rosewill-power-supply-hive550

Noctua does have black/grey fans. They just aren't out yet.

There is a possible compatibility issue with the case and that cooler.

I am aware Noctua has black/grey fans but are taking their sweet time to get them to market. >:|

The case supports coolers up to 167mm. The u14s is 165mm tall. You're fine.
