Posted May 22, 2014 So I'm planning a new devil's canyon build and plan to game at 3440x1440 (21:9) or even 4k, but I'm undecided on the GPU(s). Should I get one Titan Black or 2 EVGA gtx 780 6gb in SLI. Note: I will be liquid cooling the card(s) so I'm also planning to over clock.
 Posted May 22, 2014 Neither. Those cards cant make use of that much VRAM.

Posted May 22, 2014 If 4k gaming then you should be gettings r9 290x's since water cooling fixes the main problem.

Posted May 22, 2014 I'd reccommend you go with the Titan black , since it's fully unlocked & can have its own advantages in 3d rendering & slightly better gaming experience , (SLI have to wait when newer games get released) . Details separate people.

Posted May 23, 2014 emergurd double the vram, must mean double the performance!!! ._. You can get playable frames in like bf4 in 4k while you go just over 3gb vram. 4gb gtx 780 would be perfect. Posted May 23, 2014 You can get playable frames in like bf4 in 4k while you go just over 3gb vram. 4gb gtx 780 would be perfect. If those results are from a titan, maybe. But I believe BF4 has a VRAM Cache of some sort, that makes it look like you're using more VRAM than you actually are. Some testing done by digital storm in Crysis 3 proved a 780 TI used 3gb of vram in 4k, while a titan was using 3.6gb and both had similar framerates. Last I checked Crysis 3 has WAY more texture and detail than BF4. Here's BF4 vram numbers from guru3d (I'm not trying to argue, just trying to fix this assumption that more vram is better, when it's so irrelevant) Stuff: i7 7700k @ (dat nibba succ) | ASRock Z170M OC Formula | G.Skill TridentZ 3600 c16 | EKWB 1080 @ 2100 mhz | Acer X34 Predator | R4 | EVGA 1000 P2 | 1080mm Radiator Custom Loop | HD800 + Audio-GD NFB-11 | 850 Evo 1TB | 840 Pro 256GB | 3TB WD Blue | 2TB Barracuda Hwbot: http://hwbot.org/user/lays/ FireStrike 980 ti @ 1800 Mhz http://hwbot.org/submission/3183338 http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/11574089
 Posted May 23, 2014 Get the 290X. If you watercool, you'll definitely see an improvement on the performance. Just get the reference card if you plan to watercool. Posted May 23, 2014 I would by two or three R9 290s, since they are cheaper than the 290X and perform very similarly, especially when overclocked. Seems like the gpu's are lagging behind the screen tech at the moment...
