HELP GPU USAGE DROPS TO 0

Go to solution Solved by Aden101,

NVM its definitely overheating causing just random drops to control temps. Since when i put an fps limit on forza to 60 the drops stopped happening

I am not sure myself, and i really wanna help but looking at it, its probabbly just some weird unexplainable problem that barely harms everything, however if you can, maybe just inspect your GPU, and Power Supply, because those are the 2 linked things to seemingly your issue.

i like minecraft.

If it was a power supply issue wouldnt the gpu still show as using some load? its like it just completely ignores itself for a sec

As i said, not really sure, but thnking about it, its probably infact the GPU, also, a quick question about this issue of yours, does it happen once after booting or more than once?

It can happen randomly when im playing games causing fps drops for just a milisecond

Here are my only possible options

Overheating - Either your GPU's ventilaton is, least said bad, or the computer is just collecting dust (no offense lol)

Driver Issues - While this is a low chance, i think it can be one of the possibilities, remember to keep your drivers always updated.

Faulty GPU/Parts - There is a chance this is just directly your GPU's fault, and that it simply doesnt work, or that your Parts are causing this to your GPU.

I dont have much other data. I hope i somehow helped.

The hotspots going at 85 degrees, that could be the issue since i have a phat 3 slot gpu in a quite small micro atx case the lian li 205m mesh, im going to try running the game with a slight fps cap and see what goes from there.

Well then, while its not the exactly highest temperature, its still a possibility now.

What usage? Are you stuttering?

hotspot thermal limit is ~105, but the card could be slightly throttling as it reaches closer to 90

if you open the case's sidepanel, do the temps get better?

also what's the full specs?

Guys this conversation is hurting my head.

A hotspot temp of 85c does not mean the card is overheating , Infact 85c hotspot is right about where I would expect a 3080 on an air cooler to be at.

Setting an fps cap of 60 does not just take the load of the GPU it takes the load of the CPU , Memory and GPU.

Here's what you need to do to try to resolve this.

If the GPU has an overclock please return it to stock.

1)You need to perform a DDU on the nvidia driver and reinstall the nvidia drivers from there website.

2)Once done download furmark and see if you can replicate the issue there , Furmark is very GPU heavy but its lightly threaded and not memory sensitive so we can get an idea of if it's GPU related or something else.

3)Run a prime95 small FFT test for about an hour and see if there's any memory stability issues.

Report back here after those 3 things and we will go from there.
