Unparking CPUs

Go to solution Solved by SkilledRebuilds,

This actually made the CPU perform better, but still 4 cores are parked. I do not know if it is because it is a mobile CPU or the fact that it is the 1st gen i7.

Did you disable (set 100) for both AC/Battery settings?

Maybe with mCPU's it's device locked on...

When I said "program just removes the "initial" delay of unparking parked cores."

Maybe this delay is more prevalent on notebooks and you disabling it while it will chew more juice at idle, will be more responsive.

At least thats my best guess to your case, lesser delays in ramping up that turbo clock.

Look up also, WIN7/8 Control panel - power config, then the settings for the set profile, then advanced settings

Processer power management - set minimum to 90% or lower and it will declock down to 800mhz or higher, set it at 70% or higher, and it will stay closer to its intended stock clock speed whatever your CPU is rated at.

Google/youtube ^ this and you can find the results.

I'm trying to unpark my CPU so then it can use its full power, instead of having a number of the cores/hyper threads are just lazying around. So, in regedit.exe I put in this code '0cc5b647-c1df-4637-891a-dec35c318583', then changed the ValueMax and ValueMin to 0, which suppose to allow me to use all my cores in at any time and with any application. It did sort of work; 4 of them were unparked but the other four were still not enabled. I wasn't sure if it was the hyper threads that could not be unparked or what.

Got any ideas on how to get all the cores/hyperthreads running? I have an Intel i7 Q 740M if you do need to know that.

I would appreciate the help!

I would just leave it to be honest... the performance improvement is negligible if existent at all... Just leave CPU management to the OS, I'm sure it can do a better job by itself :P

Before I only had a single core enabled fully; when I got the other 3 cores unparked the performance went up quite a bit. Since I go an i7 I want to get the full performance out of it from all of its cores/hyper threads.

I have tried it and says I have unparked them already, but still the other core/threads are still parked.

http://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-disable-core-parking-windows

Core Parking Control is the only program I needed to do it to my i7 2600k

It would park up to 5 of my 8 cores, I unparked them

The only difference I noticed, MINFPS went UP, AVGFPS stayed the same if not 0.5 fps better, MAXFPS lowered.

Some might like their gaming that way with better MINs with the same AVGs.

Once I do....say.......video editing, all cores (if parked or not) all become active, this program just removes the "initial" delay of unparking parked cores.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
